Skip the Summer Heat: Osaka's Spectacular Autumn Fireworks Festival Returns This November
- Written by: Wemmy Chau
Fireworks festivals in Japan may be synonymous with summer, but the cooler months offer a far more comfortable way to enjoy the show. With crisp air, fewer worries about heat and humidity, and plenty of opportunities to dress for the season, autumn fireworks can be one of Japan’s best-kept secrets.
One of Osaka’s biggest fall events, Expo Night Sky Art Day 2026, will return to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park on November 21, 2026. Since launching in 2022, the festival has attracted more than 100,000 visitors with its spectacular displays combining fireworks, music, and artistic staging.
The 2026 event also marks its fifth anniversary. Under the theme “Beyond the Past, Toward New Entertainment,” organizers are promising an expanded program and an upgraded viewing experience that will transform Osaka’s autumn sky into a dazzling work of art.

Highlight #1: 15,000 Fireworks Perfectly Synced to Music for a Breathtaking Panoramic Show

This year's viewing area has moved to the East Plaza at Expo '70 Commemorative Park. Around 15,000 fireworks will light up the sky directly in front of the audience, spreading out in an ultra-wide panorama that fills the entire horizon. Crafted by top pyrotechnicians from the Kansai region, every burst is perfectly timed to a hand-picked soundtrack, taking the visual and audio spectacle to the next level!
Highlight #2: Cutting-Edge 3D Drone Art

Beyond the classic fireworks, last year's crowd-pleasing drone art is making a comeback! Using the latest tech, a dazzling 3D drone light show will paint the night sky, weaving together with the fireworks to create a one-night-only dreamscape.
Highlight #3: Daytime Fun Too! Hokusetsu Culture Festival x Ramen EXPO

Don't think the fun only starts after dark! The festival packs plenty into the daytime too. Starting at 11:00 AM, the nearby Festival Plaza will host the Hokusetsu Culture Festival, teaming up with the mega-popular food event Ramen EXPO. Enjoy live cultural performances while slurping your way through some of Japan's most beloved ramen, all day long with zero downtime!
