In 2023, the Golden Week (GW) period in Japan will be from April 29 to May 7, a maximum of 9 consecutive days off (assuming May 1st and 2nd are taken as paid vacation days). Each region in Japan is expected to be bustling with tourists during this time.

Foreign visitors from Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States have the highest search volumes for Japan by country for 2022.
During the GW period, the top 10 countries searching for Japan are Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Canada.
Tokyo Disneyland, Universal Studios Japan, and teamLab continue to maintain their popularity, which may explain the trend of focusing on Tokyo and Osaka for 2022.
However, compared to annual search volumes, suburbs near Tokyo are ranked higher during the GW period in 2023, possibly due to an increase in foreign visitors' length of stay.
There is not much change in search volumes by country or region annually or during the GW period, but Canada ranks during the GW period. This may be due to a significant increase in tourists from the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Middle East.
Here is an introduction to noteworthy facilities.
Shibuya Sky (Shibuya, Tokyo)
Mount Fuji Tour / Shizuoka and Yamanashi
Apart from being home to the symbol of Japan, the Mt. Fuji area offers several attractions that appeal to foreign visitors such as outlets and hot springs. The convenience of a direct bus from Tokyo is the key reason for its popularity. The number of foreign tourists visiting the Fuji area during the GW period is on the rise, making it an excellent travel destination both within and outside the city center.
Kimono Rental / Asakusa
Kimono rentals boast unwavering popularity as something unique that visitors to Japan can experience. Kimonos that shine in photos and videos for posting on social media are always ranked high!
