What Japanese Cuisine is Trending? The "Ore-No" Chain Restaurants Offer Delicious Value in One Go

Last updated: 22 November 2018

The "Ore" series restaurants, located near Shinbashi Station, were once so popular that it was hard to get a seat. Recently, I thought about how long it's been since I last visited and wondered what it's like now. So, I decided to revisit this once-familiar and famous restaurant! The "Ore-no Italian Jazz" in Ginza Corridor Street was the series restaurant I visited this time. Making a reservation online was a breeze, a stark contrast to its former popularity. Upon opening the front door on the day of the visit, the nostalgic scene immediately caught my eye. The restaurant was fully seated. There are several jazz performances throughout the day, and a conspicuous piano sits at the center of the stage. So, how does the key dish taste now? Is the value for money still as high as before? All the questions I had were answered during this visit. The delicious taste I remembered is still intact!

First up was the cold dish. "Today's Fresh Fish Carpaccio with Caviar Cream" was tasted immediately.

It was incredibly delicious! The sauce, capturing the essence of deliciousness, enveloped the fresh sashimi, retaining the taste I remembered, and it was exceptionally affordable at just 780 yen. The value for money is beyond words!

The party started with draft beer, followed by the arrival of sparkling wine. I ordered "Ore-No's Magnum (Sparkling)."

1500ml is the size of two bottles of Magnum size. I don't recall there being this size bottle before. Is it a new introduction? Regardless, each type was delicious and paired well with the meals, which remained consistently delightful!

Next, I ordered a hot dish. "Shrimp and Octopus, Mushroom in Garlic Oil."

The tender shrimp perfectly encapsulated the taste of the ocean. The aroma of the shrimp infused the olive oil, transforming it into a delicious dressing. I believe everyone will find this dish irresistible! Following that, I added "Ore's Special Bread." Dipped in olive oil, the bread absorbed the aroma of the shrimp, making it irresistible to eat more!

Then came the main event!

First, the main dish we initially ordered was served. The limited "1Kg Bone-In Steak" was available in just 10 portions.

After initially being brought to the table for our inspection, it was taken back to the kitchen to be cut into pieces before being served again. We immediately started sharing it. The grilled meat was fragrant, tender, and juicy, spreading its delicious aroma in the mouth. It lived up to its status as a limited special menu item. The reason why customers never tire of the "Ore" series restaurants is their deep dedication to the menu.

After opening bottles of sparkling wine, white wine, and red wine, it was time to try this "shime." Shime was selected from the pizza menu, "Truffle and Porcini Bismarck Pizza." Once served, the staff broke the soft-boiled egg, sliced the pizza, and folded each piece to a suitable size to eat. The combination of cheese and soft-boiled egg was a delight, with the truffle aroma being very pleasant. Indeed, the shime lived up to its reputation.

"Ore-no Italian Jazz" not only maintained its past quality but has also evolved. The value for money is still unbeatable. This visit was not only about drinking wine and tasting various dishes, but the individual spending was also only 5000 yen. Booking a reservation was much easier than before, and I will definitely want to invite a group of friends to come again next time!
