Shin-Fuji Station is a stop on the Tokaido Shinkansen line located in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It serves as a key base for sightseeing around Mt. Fuji from the Shizuoka side. Mt. Fuji Fifth Station (Fujinomiya Trail): During the summer climbing season, a direct bus connects Shin-Fuji Station to the Fifth Station (Fujinomiya Trail) in 2.5 hours. Its easy access makes it one of the most used trailheads by Mt. Fuji climbers. The summer-exclusive Fuji Climbing Bus Free Ticket offers a discounted round-trip valid for three days. It can be purchased at bus ticket counters at Shin-Fuji Station or Fujinomiya Station.。

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine: The central shrine of worship on Mt. Fuji and the starting point for climbing. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the shrine from Shin-Fuji Station by city bus or taxi.

Shiraito Falls: The beautiful, vast waterfall was added to the World Heritage List as part of the Fujisan Cultural site. To reach it, it takes about an hour by bus from Shin-Fuji Station via Fuji Station and Fujinomiya Station. However, we recommend checking the timetable in advance, as there may not be many buses running. For a faster and more convenient trip, taxis are also available.

1. Crowds during Mt. Fuji climbing season (Summer)
During the Mt. Fuji climbing season from early July to early September, the area bustles with climbers using the climbing buses heading from Shin-Fuji Station to the Fifth Station, as well as tourists around the Fujinomiya Trailhead. In those periods, access routes to Mt. Fuji tend to become very crowded.

2. Fuji’s biggest summer event: Fuji Festival
One of Fuji's biggest events is the Fuji Festival. Held every summer, it usually takes place on a weekend in late July. In 2025, it was held on Sunday, July 27.
Beginning in the afternoon, the entire city livens up during the Citizens' Grand Dance and the fireworks show at the end of the festival (7:30 PM to 8:30 PM). Central Park, where the event takes place, and the surrounding Aoba Street become extremely crowded with locals and tourists.

1. Mt. Fuji-Shizuoka Area Tourist Pass Mini
This pass is designed for international visitors and valid for three consecutive days. It offers unlimited travel on non-reserved seats in ordinary cars of JR conventional lines (on designated sections of the Tokaido Main Line, Gotemba Line, and Minobu Line between Atami and Toyohashi) around Mt. Fuji and in a wide area of Shizuoka Prefecture.
The pass can also be used on Izuhakone Railway and other means of transportation outside of trains, such as Fujikyu Bus (routes like Shin-Fuji Station to Fuji Station South Exit, Gotemba Station to Kawaguchiko Station), Tokai Bus, and the Suruga Bay Ferry (Shimizu Port to Toi Port). This makes it extremely convenient for exploring the wider area from around Mt. Fuji to the Izu Peninsula. Tickets (6,500 yen for adults) can be purchased in advance for pickup at Shin-Fuji Station and at major JR Central stations, such as Tokyo Station and Nagoya Station, as well as at overseas travel agencies.

2. Mt. FUJI-ENJOY PASS
This convenient and cost-effective one-day pass for sightseeing around Mt. Fuji can be purchased by both Japanese residents and international tourists. It was renewed in May 2025 and can now be purchased at designated ticket vending machines. To make the tickets more accessible for international visitors, they are now available with English text.
There are two types of tickets available: Central Shizuoka and Eastern Shizuoka. They both cost 2,200 yen for adults and allow unlimited rides within the designated free zones for trains, buses, and ferries in both areas.

3. Mt. Fuji area unlimited ride pass: Mt. Fuji Pass
This is a discounted sightseeing pass designed exclusively for international visitors wishing to travel around Mt. Fuji. Passes are valid for one to three days and offer unlimited rides on designated sections of the Fujikyu Railway Line and city buses in the Fuji Five Lakes area.
