Shin-Fuji Station: Gateway to Mt. Fuji via Shinkansen
Shin-Fuji Station is a stop on the Tokaido Shinkansen line located in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It serves as a key base for sightseeing around Mt. Fuji from the Shizuoka side. It is easily accessible from both the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Chubu region. You can reach the station in about an hour from Tokyo Station and about an hour and a half from Nagoya via the Kodama Shinkansen.
Shin-Fuji Station’s greatest feature is the view of majestic Mt. Fuji towering above you as you step outside. The station is the perfect gateway to admire the World Heritage site up close and bask in Shizuoka Prefecture's rich nature and culture while savoring its delicious cuisine.

Tourist information center and travel support services
The tourist information center located on the first floor of Shin-Fuji Station provides information on sightseeing in the Fuji area and Mt. Fuji. It also offers English assistance, multilingual brochures, and bicycle rentals, ideal for exploring the area surrounding the station and Fuji City. Visitors can enjoy clear views of the mountain while cycling on cloudless days.

Access to Mt. Fuji climbing and surrounding World Heritage sites
Shin-Fuji Station has excellent access to the Fujinomiya Trail on Mt. Fuji’s Shizuoka side.
Mt. Fuji Fifth Station (Fujinomiya Trail): During the summer climbing season, a direct bus connects Shin-Fuji Station to the Fifth Station (Fujinomiya Trail) in 2.5 hours. Its easy access makes it one of the most used trailheads by Mt. Fuji climbers. The summer-exclusive Fuji Climbing Bus Free Ticket offers a discounted round-trip valid for three days. It can be purchased at bus ticket counters at Shin-Fuji Station or Fujinomiya Station.。
Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine: The central shrine of worship on Mt. Fuji and the starting point for climbing. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the shrine from Shin-Fuji Station by city bus or taxi.
Shiraito Falls: The beautiful, vast waterfall was added to the World Heritage List as part of the Fujisan Cultural site. To reach it, it takes about an hour by bus from Shin-Fuji Station via Fuji Station and Fujinomiya Station. However, we recommend checking the timetable in advance, as there may not be many buses running. For a faster and more convenient trip, taxis are also available.

Major events and peak periods around Fuji City
Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture and the surrounding Mt. Fuji area attract many tourists year-round, but there are specific periods and events when the city is particularly crowded.
1. Crowds during Mt. Fuji climbing season (Summer)
During the Mt. Fuji climbing season from early July to early September, the area bustles with climbers using the climbing buses heading from Shin-Fuji Station to the Fifth Station, as well as tourists around the Fujinomiya Trailhead. In those periods, access routes to Mt. Fuji tend to become very crowded.
2. Fuji’s biggest summer event: Fuji Festival
One of Fuji's biggest events is the Fuji Festival. Held every summer, it usually takes place on a weekend in late July. In 2025, it was held on Sunday, July 27.
Beginning in the afternoon, the entire city livens up during the Citizens' Grand Dance and the fireworks show at the end of the festival (7:30 PM to 8:30 PM). Central Park, where the event takes place, and the surrounding Aoba Street become extremely crowded with locals and tourists.
