You can enjoy afternoon tea in Osaka at several of the city's most luxurious hotels! And now, seasonal autumn sweets and herbal tea are in the spotlight.
Of particular note is the autumn-exclusive fair, featuring Halloween-themed desserts and fall flavors with each hotel offering a unique lineup of “masterpiece sweets.”
Why not enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea in Osaka surrounded by a gorgeous atmosphere this autumn? Here's where to dig in!
1. Rihga Royal Hotel (Osaka): Afternoon tea in Osaka with an adorable forest fairy tale theme
Located on the west end of Nakanoshima in central Osaka and directly connected to Nakanoshima Station on the Keihan Nakanoshima Line, Rihga Royal Hotel (Osaka) offers both convenient access and the limited-time “Dessert & Tea Autumn Forest.”
Using plentiful autumn flavors like chestnuts, pumpkins, and grapes, the tea service presents a fairy tale world with a theme of “Forest - Autumn Leaves – Animals.”
Playful examples like the “Pumpkin Mousse and Hedgehog” featuring a chocolate and whipped cream hedgehog on top of pumpkin and cinnamon mousse, and the “Squirrel Cookie,” which looks like a standing squirrel holding a nut, are almost too cute to eat!
Other specialties among the wide array of treats include “Grape Verine,” made of layers of grape jelly and cream cheese topped with sweet and sour griot sauce, and “Mont Blanc,” a crispy meringue topped with marron cream. From October 16-31, tea time takes on a Halloween motif with bats, ghosts, and more.
The tea is served in the main lounge, overlooking the hotel’s impressive garden and wrapped in a calm atmosphere of traditional Japanese beauty, including the beautiful “purple cloud” chandeliers.

2. Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka: A 3-tier afternoon tea stand transforms into a “Halloween Castle”!?
Near popular destinations like Namba, Shinsekai, and Dotonbori in Osaka, Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka is directly connected to Kintetsu Osaka Uehonmachi Station. The hotel’s “Halloween Sweets Fair 2021” takes place from September 21 to October 31.
A picture book Halloween world is beautifully presented, and the three-tiered afternoon tea stand fashioned as a “Halloween castle” full of monsters is of particular note.
The “main gate” is made of grissini with a path lined in exotic spice salt. The second tier is themed as “a monster’s dark little sleeping floor,” with the monster’s room created through an arrangement of desserts on a black plate, including an eclair that looks like a mummy’s casket.
On the third level, cute monsters and a jack-o’-lantern celebrate the theme as “monster aristocrats enjoying the party.”
Served as a welcome drink, the non-alcoholic “Darjeeling HalloKir” cocktail with rose petals is highly recommended.
For children, there’s the “Halloween Kids Plate” (1,900 yen, elementary school students and younger only) with a bear-shaped maritozzo and more, so tea time can be enjoyed by the whole family!

4. Hyatt Regency Osaka: Enjoy the seasonal parfait that’s prepared right in front of you!
Hyatt Regency Osaka, which can be reached from JR Osaka Station by free shuttle bus, overlooks the cityscape of the Osaka Bay area.
On Saturdays and Sundays from September 25 to November 28, the hotel is holding an afternoon tea set entitled “European Autumn Voyage” that “tours” various countries via autumn ingredients and traditional European sweets.
Incorporating ingredients from all over Europe such as Spanish almonds and Italian pistachio paste, ten dishes from nine European countries, including pistachio eclairs (France) and cod and potato croquettes (Portugal), are available.
In addition to a three-tiered afternoon tea stand, the “freshly squeezed Mont Blanc parfait” serves as the main dessert, and you can choose from three types: cassis, apricot, and chocolate.
This popular parfait is prepared right before your eyes as it’s topped with Mont Blanc cream and meringue. An all-you-eat buffet of madeleine, canelé, financier, and Baumkuchen is also part of the festivities.

Directly connected to Moriguchishi Station on the Keihan Main Line about 5 minutes from central Osaka, Hotel Agora Osaka Moriguchi offers its “Afternoon Tea” with autumn flavored sweets featuring chestnuts and grapes for ten people per day.
This fall, the spotlight will be on Mont Blanc, one of the hotel’s most popular desserts. The course begins with the “Autumn Petit Mont Blanc,” comprised of three types of Mont Blanc: standard domestic chestnut, in-season red sweet potato, and pumpkin.
The Mont Blanc is followed by a three-tiered cake stand. Not only are sweets such as chestnut and caramel bavarois, grape jelly with Shine Muscat, and baked sweets popular at the hotel shops a part of the seasonal tea time, but also a luxurious lineup of meals including quiche, roast beef mini hamburgers cooked for 4 hours, and foie gras French toast.
In addition, you can partake in all-you-can-eat grapes (three kinds, varieties vary by season).
Available drinks include seven kinds of black tea from Germany’s long-established tea maker Ronnefeld or fragrant coffee made of original blend coffee beans.
