Description
It is the only national museum of nature and science in Japan. It preserves a collection of more than four million precious artifacts, representing the history of nature and science technology. The Japan Gallery exhibits the movements of Japan's ancestors - how they found the islands and coexisted with nature 40,000 years ago. Here, you can learn how the islands developed and what creatures have existed there. The permanent exhibits in the Earth Gallery, which reopened in July 2015 after renovation, show the earth's environment and its changes. In the theater, which gives you a floating feeling because it projects movies in 360 degrees, the evolution of mankind, the development of the earth, and the world of dinosaurs are presented in an easy-to-understand manner. In addition, the museum holds a variety of events that appeal to all generations to develop their understanding of the earth, life, and science technology. The museum is located at a five-minute walk from the Koen-guchi (park) exit of the Ueno station. On a special note, there is an animal park and an art museum within a 10-minute walking distance of this museum, so it is possible to interact with various aspects of Japanese culture and nature in one visit.
