Daimaru Tokyo: A Dream Workation Fukubukuro Offering a Paradisaical Outdoor Bath with a View
In Japan, the term 'workation' became popularized with the rise of people working from home. This year, the department store Daimaru Tokyo has teamed up with Shizuoka Prefecture’s Higashiizu City, which became branded as the city of workations, to offer their Dream Workation Fukubukuro for the first time ever.
Higashiizu City offers a variety of workation packages. Easily accessible from Tokyo and its surrounding areas, Izu Peninsula’s eastern coastline can be found in the middle of this city.
Also known for being a tranquil area surrounded by mountains and oceans, it has six hot spring villages, including Inatori Onsen.
When purchasing this fukubukuro, you will get a chance to win a trip to East Dock, a shared office space with a view of the ocean; a stay at Inatori Ginsuiso, a traditional Japanese inn that was introduced in the Top 100 Hotels & Ryokans Voted by Industry Professionals; and a Higashiizu experience or activity of your choice. You will also be given free transportation options such as electric bikes or carsharing.
At Inatori Ginsuiso, you can unwind in the outdoor bath that gives you a private view of the ocean. Soaking in this bath after a long day at work is an experience like no other!
To enjoy the vacation part of your workation, this package also comes with activities! Here you can take part in the charm of Higashiizu by picking one of the special activities offered. This includes a fishing boat cruise, clementine picking, and making fresh juice, and a geo guide tour of Hosono Plateau by Izu Peninsula’s youngest guides.
When considering the luxurious experiences that come with this package, 30,000 yen per room is a steal! There are only three spots available, so be sure to check for updates on the sales information regularly!

Takashimaya: A 1.9 Million-Yen Personal Glamping Fukubukuro You Can Set Up Anywhere!
At the department store Takashimaya, they are now selling the Portable Architectural Space: Zero Pod fukubukuro for those who want to enjoy personalized glamping easily. To celebrate their 190th anniversary, this department store has created a fukubukuro where you can enjoy the now very popular activity of glamping while avoiding crowded areas.
The Portable Architectural Space: Zero Pod is a pop-up tent with a raised floor. It has a width of approximately 290 centimeters, a depth of 250 centimeters, and a height of 260 centimeters (maximum height up to 295 centimeters when the stands are stretched to their full length).
Five adults can relax in this space easily! Moreover, the structural design of this raised floor is so sophisticated, it has already been patented. The tent is easy to set up in uneven areas such as on grass, in a yard, on a hill, or on rocky terrain.
What’s more, with this tent, you don’t need to level out the ground like you would when building a log house. Only requiring a five-minute setup time, it doesn’t leave a mark whether you’re glamping on flooring or out in nature!
Additionally, this tent’s biggest perk is how light and easy to transport it is. It’s so compact, you can even carry it in a golf bag! With so much to offer, this glamping tent even won the 2021 DSA Design Space Award.
The tent also comes with windows that have a screen! This is good for preventing bugs such as mosquitoes from getting in and enabling you to enjoy a great view without having to worry about others being able to see inside easily. On top of this, it has a double roof to prevent condensation.
With a limited number of only three tents, you can purchase this fukubukuro for 1.9 million yen. Since 2022 is expected to be another year of avoiding crowded places when enjoying recreational activities, a personal glamping tent will be an amazing and handy item to have!
