Since Tokyo residents were excluded from the "Go To Travel Campaign," several Tokyo hotels have announced their own special incentives and perks for Tokyo area residents. Here we'll share some of these great plans and the Covid measures being implemented by the respective hotels.
Get over 50% off! "Tomin Gentei Special Discount Plan" at 16 hotels - including Tokyo Station Hotel!
From August 1, Nippon Hotel, which operates hotels mainly in the Tokyo metro area, began offering the “Tomin Gentei Special Discount Plan” at 16 hotels in Tokyo. In addition to being able to get 50% off or more the normal room rate, breakfast is free. Plus, a 5000 yen hotel voucher (per room per stay), which can be used against food and beverage charges at the directly managed restaurants or against the room fee at your next stay, will be offered as well.
Target hotels are Tokyo Station Hotel, Mesm Tokyo/Autograph Collection, 3 of the Metropolitan Hotels (Ikebukuro/Edmont Iidabashi)/Marunouchi), and JR East Hotel Mets 11 hotels (Shibuya, Mejiro, Tabata, Akihabara, Gotanda, Koenji, Musashisakai, Kokubunji, Tachikawa, Akabane, Tokyo Bay Shinkiba).
The implementation period is from August 1, 2020 and will run through the end of the exclusion of Tokyo under the Go To Travel campaign. Reservations and inquiries can be made from the official websites of each hotel. (*Note that the implementation period may change.)

"Tomin-Oen (Citizen Support) Campaign": Underway at all 9 Prince Hotels in Tokyo
On July 22, Prince Hotels started the "Tomin-Oen (Citizen Support) Campaign - I LOVE TOKYO" at all nine Prince Hotels in Tokyo. In addition to a 5,000 yen facility use ticket for each stay per room, 20% discounts are available at directly-operated restaurants, bars and lounges at all nine hotels in Tokyo. On July 22, Hotel New Otani announced two advantageous accommodation plans for Tokyo residents. Reservations started on the same day.
Plan: Half-price room charge for Tokyo residents! "TOKYOCATION", a 6-night stay plan where you can indulge in luxurious sweets and traditional fare
The first is "TOKYOCATION", a stay-cation plan that allows you to stay for 6 nights and 7 days at virtually half price. Normally, 6 nights without meals is 166,320 yen, but under the deal, you can stay for 6 nights at just 99,600 yen. Plus, using the 18,000 yen meal voucher, you can save even more. (*Value rate for 2 people per room from July 26th to August 1st)
When using one room for 3 people, you can enjoy a free upgrade to a deluxe room. In addition, special meal coupons can be used at applicable Hotel New Otani's restaurants, which boast a wide variety of fare - from cake shops that offer high-class sweets, to authentic dining.
Plan 2: "30-hour Midsummer Stay" where you can enjoy the popular night pool
The second plan lets you enjoy the popular night pool at Hotel New Otani. With this 30-hour stay plan, you can enjoy relaxing in the night pool twice. A meal coupon worth 3000 yen per stay is included. Rates start from 39,600 yen per room.
Both plans are limited to 10 rooms per day. At check-in, you will be required to show identification that indicates your current address.

Measures against novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Each hotel has announced measures against COVID on their official websites.
In addition to strengthening ventilation inside the hotel and undertaking through disinfection and splash prevention measures, the hotels have also enacted measures to ensure a social distance by setting elevator passenger capacity. Staff are undergoing hygiene management, and additional steps for guests, such as installment of hand sanitizer stations, are also in place.
The Prince Hotel has established “Novel Coronavirus Infection Prevention and Prevention Guidelines” consisting of three items, “hygiene management,” “cleanliness,” and “3C avoidance,” to make employees thoroughly aware of the importance of these measures. In addition to strengthening the hygiene system for employees, the hotels thoroughly check the health of guests and restaurant users, and thoroughly clean and disinfect facilities while conducting measures to prevent splash contamination.
Hotel New Otani is working on various safety measures such as thorough disinfection inside the building, ensuring physical distance between guests, and rigorous hygiene management. They also have a parking lot for 760 cars that can be used free of charge during your stay, providing an environment where city residents and other guests can visit with peace of mind - even if not taking public transportation.
