Asakusa Hanayashiki is Japan's oldest amusement park, operating since 1853. Its history of over 160 years is a unique experience to take in, as the nostalgic atmosphere alone is worth a visit. Hanayashiki has a variety of attractions, including riding a mechanical panda bear, roller coasters, and other retro rides.

One of the most popular attractions at Hanayashiki is Japan's oldest roller coaster. Unlike modern roller coasters that feature insane speeds and loops, this long-established scream machine has a maximum speed of only 42 kilometers per hour, making it a great choice for those who do not want to handle the intense speed. However, for those who are thrill-seekers, this grandpa of attractions should not be underestimated. Despite its age, it still offers a fantastic experience steeped in history.

During autumn and winter, Hanayashiki amusement park transforms into Lumiyashiki after sunset. This is when the park is beautifully illuminated with colorful lights. You can check the schedule for the light-up on the park's official website. The light-up event takes place daily from 6 PM to 9 PM, making Hanayashiki a perfect spot to visit and unwind after a long day of sightseeing in Asakusa. You can take selfies or simply enjoy the romantic atmosphere.

Yomiuriland is an amusement park that keeps drawing in Tokyoites and tourists with its two scream machines: Bandit, a roller coaster that hits a speed of 110 kilometers per hour, and MOMOnGA, Japan’s first standing loop coaster.

Next to these wild rides, Yomiuriland also offers a large number of kid-friendly attractions for all ages, so you and your family won’t have a hard time spending an entire day full of excitement and fun.

From October to April, Yomiuriland hosts the annual "Jewellumination" event where the entire park is illuminated in a variety of colors.
