Official Anime, Manga, and Character Shops All in One Place! The Unique Appeal of Shibuya

Many people probably think of Akihabara or Ikebukuro when it comes to anime towns, but Shibuya is also highly recommended if you are looking for anime and character goods .
One of the main reasons Shibuya is such a popular choice is the large number of official shops selling licensed products. For example, Shibuya PARCO is home to Nintendo TOKYO and Pokémon Center Shibuya, while Shibuya 109 houses shops for ONE PIECE and Sanrio. Having multiple official stores inside the same shopping complex makes it incredibly convenient. If you already know what you are looking for, such as “I want Pokémon goods” or “I want to collect official Weekly Shonen Jump merchandise,” then Shibuya is the perfect place to spend a meaningful shopping day.
Another charm of Shibuya’s official shops is that most of them feature character statues and photo spots, making them ideal not only for shopping but also for creating lasting memories of your trip.
And if you are buying gifts for family or friends, official licensed merchandise makes the perfect souvenir from Japan. For anime and character fans, it is sure to be the best present.
(By Shop) The Perfect Store for You! 10 Recommended Shops
If you are looking for anime, manga, and character goods in Shibuya, start with Shibuya PARCO and Shibuya 109. Both complexes are packed with official anime and character shops, offering exclusive and pre-release items you won’t find anywhere else. From there, we will also introduce discount stores and electronics retailers, bringing you our selection of 10 must-visit shops in Shibuya.
(Shibuya PARCO) The 6th Floor Is a Dream World of Game, Anime, and Manga Shops!
Nintendo TOKYO

The only official Nintendo store in Tokyo awaits on the 6th floor of Shibuya PARCO. As you ride the escalator up, the sight of the iconic red logo gradually coming into view is sure to make your heart race. Step inside and you will be welcomed by Nintendo game music playing lightly in the background, filling you with the same excitement you feel before setting off on a new adventure. Statues of beloved characters like Super Mario and Link from The Legend of Zelda also serve as perfect photo spots.

The merchandise lineup focuses on Nintendo titles such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, Kirby, and Pikmin. Exclusive items like T-shirts and towels featuring the “Nintendo TOKYO” logo are especially popular.
One experience this game-loving writer highly recommends is the capsule toy “Controller Button Collection” (600 yen per try). These keychains replicate buttons from classic controllers like the NES and SNES, matching the original in both size and tactile feel. Since they are only available in Japan, many visitors keep trying until they complete the set.
There is also a demo area where you can play popular titles for the Nintendo Switch 2. Games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are available, offering such immersive fun that you may lose track of time.

Pokémon Center Shibuya

The only Pokémon Center in the Shibuya area welcomes visitors with a life-sized Mewtwo sleeping inside a glass tube, an overwhelming sight that sets the tone for what’s to come. Further inside, Shibuya-themed decorations and graffiti art cover the walls, making even the entrance a delight for fans.
The shop is entirely dedicated to Pokémon merchandise, offering everything from plush toys and stationery to kitchen goods and sweets, making it a perfect place to pick up souvenirs.

As a devoted Pokémon fan, what I really want you to notice are the limited-time items displayed near the entrance. In the past, summer has brought goods themed around school holidays, while winter featured original merchandise with snow- and ice-type Pokémon. These are items that even Japanese fans struggle to find once they sell out, so if something catches your eye, don’t hesitate to buy it.
If your visit happens to fall during your birthday month, be sure to tell a staff member and show proof with your passport. You will receive a special birthday card as a gift. And if a family member or friend has a birthday that month, it’s definitely worth trying this service for them too.

JUMP SHOP Shibuya

This official licensed shop by Shueisha features merchandise from popular Weekly Shonen Jump series. At the entrance stands a life-sized statue of Luffy from ONE PIECE, welcoming visitors into a space designed around the concept of “fun, excitement, and comfort.” Inside, you’ll find a wide selection of character goods inspired by Jump’s hit titles, including original items based on the original manga series. From stickers, plush toys, and posters to practical goods like stationery and T-shirts, the shop offers a variety of items that can easily be incorporated into your everyday life.

Godzilla Store Shibuya

Opened in April 2025, the store welcomes visitors with a towering 2-meter Godzilla statue at the entrance. At certain times, it lights up in a fiery red, evoking the intensity of a scene straight out of the movies.
Inside, you will find a full lineup of Godzilla-themed items. From meticulously crafted figures and keychains that thrill hardcore fans to everyday goods like pouches and stationery that appeal to casual visitors, the selection offers something for everyone.

My top recommendation is the Shibuya-exclusive merchandise. These include a variety of collaboration items with Hachiko, the symbol of Shibuya, such as mini towels and stickers. The design of Hachiko bravely standing alongside Burning Godzilla is especially charming. Items featuring both the world-famous Godzilla and Hachiko make for the perfect souvenir from Shibuya.

SEGA STORE TOKYO

Opened in July 2025, this is the first official SEGA/ATLUS store in Tokyo. From the entrance, glowing blue neon lights create a sleek and urban atmosphere. Step inside and the mirrored ceiling reflects lights and merchandise, making you feel as if you’ve wandered into SEGA’s world, where nostalgia and innovation meet.
The store features a wide range of goods, from classics like Sonic and Puyo Puyo to hit titles such as Yakuza and Persona. You will also find plenty of everyday items, including SEGA logo sweatshirts and keychains, perfect for adding a touch of gaming fun to daily life .

Not to be missed are the SEGA STORE TOKYO exclusive items. To celebrate the opening, a specially designed Sonic plush is also on sale, and if you manage to get one, consider yourself lucky.

(Shibuya 109 & MAGNET by SHIBUYA109) More Than Just Fashion! A Wide Variety of Pop Culture Shops
ONE PIECE Mugiwara Store Shibuya Main Branch

Located on the 6th floor of MAGNET by SHIBUYA109, right by the famous Scramble Crossing, this is the official ONE PIECE store. As soon as you step out of the elevator, you are welcomed by a statue of the legendary scene where Shanks entrusts his straw hat to Luffy, a must-see moment for every fan. Don’t miss the chance to snap a photo as if you were Luffy receiving the hat.
Inside, the shop is packed with official ONE PIECE merchandise, including plush toys, home goods, stationery, and even Japanese-language manga volumes. Shibuya-exclusive keychains and T-shirts make perfect souvenirs, so grab them quickly if you see them, as they are among the most popular items.
Another thoughtful touch is that all price tags are written in English, making it easy for visitors to understand. A recommended way to explore the shop is to take a commemorative photo at the entrance first, then head straight to the shelves of exclusive items.

AMNIBUS STORE MAGNET by SHIBUYA109店

Located on the 5th floor of MAGNET by SHIBUYA109, the AMNIBUS STORE is a collaboration shop offering limited-time merchandise from popular anime series. The lineup ranges from anime based on manga, such as Yowamushi Pedal and Tokyo Revengers, to anime adapted from games like Love Live! and Heaven Burns Red.
At the entrance, you will find large visuals of the featured series, while inside the shop acrylic stands, badges, T-shirts, tote bags, and more limited-time goods are lined up wall to wall.
When I visited, the staff mentioned that items from trending anime tend to sell out quickly, so checking social media for updates and securing your favorites on the spot is the smartest way to shop here. With plenty of small, easy-to-carry items, it is also a great place to pick up souvenirs. For maximum efficiency, pair your visit with the ONE PIECE Mugiwara Store located just one floor above.

Sanrio SHIBUYA 109 Shibuya Store

If you are looking to buy Sanrio goods in Shibuya, head to the Sanrio shop inside Shibuya 109. Take the escalator up to the 6th floor, and you will instantly find yourself surrounded by the worlds of Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi. Pastel-colored shelves filled with the latest items create an irresistibly cute atmosphere.

Mini towels, pouches, and stickers make compact, perfect souvenirs. Since Shibuya 109 can be accessed directly from Shibuya Station’s underground passage, you can shop comfortably even on rainy days.
According to a Sanrio-loving friend, the highlight here is the Atari Kuji lottery (from 800 yen per try). With no losing tickets, you can win original goods featuring popular characters like Cinnamoroll and Kuromi. As sales end once stock runs out, it is best to check the official social media in advance.
