1. Ushigoro Bambina: Classic A5 Wagyu in Shibuya for Surprisingly Little Money

Ushigoro Bambina is a grill and bar in Shibuya that serves you domestic A5 Japanese black beef for extremely reasonable prices. A Japanese classic is beef tongue, so if you don’t know where to start, go for that. Other recommended cuts are misuji (lower shoulder) for 1,500 yen (tax excluded), tomosankaku (tri-tip) for the same price, and rib kaburi (ribeye cap) for a mere 1,000 yen (tax excluded).

The classic barbecue serves you the high-grade cuts just perfectly juicy and flavorful – in fact, it’s so good that you’ll find yourself involuntarily closing your eyes and humming in delight as you take the first bite. Make sure to combine the meat with your red wine of choice!

2. Motsukichi Shibuya: Amazingly Delicious Japanese-style Roast Beef

At Motsukichi, you’ll get to try rare cuts of highest-grade A5 Japanese beef from Kyoto for very little money. It's one of the best spots in Shibuya for wagyu! We especially recommend the Japanese-style roast beef for 1,280 yen (tax excluded).

Lean meat from a Japanese black cow is roasted at low temperatures before being left to age in the sauce for 24 hours. The cut is then finished with parmesan right in front of your eyes.

This makes the roast beef taste amazingly refreshing, with the sauce and the parmesan harmonizing wonderfully with the delicious taste of the meat. It’s a beef gourmet experience that you might just get addicted to!

3. Henry’s Burger: Uniting the Casual with the Luxurious

3. Henry’s Burger: Uniting the Casual with the Luxurious

Although A5-grade wagyu has this high-class image, there’s no reason to not make an excellent burger patty out of it. This is exactly what Henry’s Burger did, a Shibuya wagyu hamburger shop run by a charcoal barbecue specialty shop.

You absolutely have to order the “Double Hamburger” for 1,188 yen (tax included). The patty is 100% choice wagyu meat, about 8mm thick that is wonderfully juicy and makes for an amazing burger experience. The shop is small and offers only 4 seats, so we highly recommend visiting in the afternoon between lunch and dinner or enjoy your wagyu burger at one of the nearby parks.

Wagyu in Shibuya – an Amazing Beef Experience

Our recommendations of classic barbecue, roast beef, and hamburger are three very different ways to enjoy Japan’s famous high-grade wagyu beef, each delicious in its own way. Whether you like it straight from the grill or between two tasty buns is entirely up to you, but you shouldn’t leave Tokyo without having tried Japanese beef at least once!
