Description

The Japan’s largest Korean Town, Shin Okubo Korean Town which receives many visitors, consists of three main streets: Okubo-dori Street, Shokuan-dori Street, and Ikemen-dori Street. There are about 500 stores in the Town such as authentic Korean restaurants serving samgyeopsal (Korean BBQ) and samgyetang (soup), Korean cosmetic shops, yomogi mushi (an herbal steam treatment) salons, Korean beauty treatment salons and Korean goods shops. In addition, there are Korean language schools and various places to experience Korean culture. The Town is popular mainly among young ladies. There are also food stalls selling Korean fast-food such as chijimi and tteokbokki and K-POP cafes and you can casually feel and experience Korean taste and culture here. It is nearby Shin-Okubo Station on the JR Yamanote Line. The Shin-Okubo Shopping Street’s official map, Nigiwai MAP is distributed at the station and stores of the shopping street. Also the station and the shopping street warmly welcome foreign tourists and students learning Japanese language with a public audio announcement in 28 languages.
