Sayama Prefectural Natural Park

都立狭山公園

Description

Sayama Park is one of four Tokyo Metropolitan parks in Sayama Hills, and a park where the natural landscape of the forests and fields remain. There are several species of cherry blossoms such as Yoshino Cherry, Yamazakura and Satozakura that have been planted in the park, and it is known as a spot where you can enjoy different types of cherry blossoms at once. There is a large pond in the wooded area with spring water from the hills and water from Tama Lake. The dogwood around it reaches it peak in the early summer, and the Japanese maples in the autumn. There is a wide variety of birds here, including different types of cuckoo birds that are rare in the city, so the park is alive with chirping birds around the breeding season in late April to early May. There is also a spacious grass field in the park loved as a place to relax with people enjoying their picnics and children running around to their heart's content. The park is a 5-minute walk from Seibu-Yuenchi Station on the Seibu Tamako Line.
