Nezu Museum

Established in 1940 in accordance with the wishes of the deceased business tycoon, Kaichiro Nezu. The art museum exhibits a wide range of Japanese and Asian antique art collected by Nezu over a long period of time, including paintings, lacquerware, sculptures, ceramics, and textiles. As of 2015, the museum owned 7,416 art works including seven national treasures, 87 important cultural properties, and 94 art treasures. The museum also has tea houses and a Japanese garden. The Japanese garden maintains vestiges of its shinzan-yukoku (deep mountains and mysterious valleys) style, and allows the visitor to enjoy the Japanese aesthetic of the changing seasons. Popular items sold at its museum shop include not only exhibition books, but also postcards and stationery items depicting works in the collection and bags and scents in the Japanese wa-style. It is an eight-minute walk from the A5 exit of Omote-sando Station of multiple Tokyo Metro Lines.
