Japanese relaxation spots are catching the eye of the international crowd, thanks to their meticulous techniques and amazing service. HEAD SPA Kuu in the Omotesando area of Tokyo is a prime example of the luxury and warm hospitality that tourists are clamoring to experience.
So, what's the big deal with this "head spa" that's all about treating your scalp? We're here to share why it's getting such rave reviews on Google. Let's dive in!

Paradise one stop away from Shibuya: The luxurious head spa in the upscale Omotesando area
Omotesando is one of the most elegant shopping areas in Tokyo. Brand-name flagship stores line the street in front of the station, and visitors to Japan flock here in droves. Another reason for its popularity is how close it is to other sightseeing spots, as Omotesando is only one subway stop from Shibuya Station.
HEAD SPA Kuu is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Omotesando Station. Enjoy a quick stroll through this gorgeous area and you’ll arrive before you know it.
The real reason for reviews like, "It was paradise" & "The most relaxing time ever"
Struggling with neck aches, restless sleep, hair that just won't cooperate, or worried about your skin losing its firmness? Turns out, a lot of these problems can be tied back to your scalp's health. Head spas are all about giving your scalp a good, relaxing massage to not only sort out tension up top but also help you feel better all around.
When you check out the Google reviews for HEAD SPA Kuu, you'll find it's overflowing with high praises like "an ultimate relaxing experience" and "it was like heaven," especially from guests visiting from overseas.
The reason for such glowing feedback? It's all about the hospitality offered by therapists with top-notch techniques.
Each therapist undergoes three months of training, mastering their unique head spa skills before they even start serving customers. Plus, they're also schooled in manners by etiquette instructors and get training in traditional Thai massage from their sister shops, ensuring they're equipped not just with head spa expertise but with a whole range of skills to keep guests totally satisfied.
One of HEAD SPA Kuu's greatest strengths are their custom-made treatments based on a thorough understanding of each customer's needs. After filling out a survey, you'll discuss the condition of your scalp and any concerns you have with a massage therapist who will then put together a treatment plan tailored to your scalp. The treatments at HEAD SPA Kuu go beyond just following a manual and adapt their treatments for each individual. That's what makes a visit to HEAD SPA Kuu such a unique and worthwhile experience.
Healing through all five senses: Relaxation from the moment you enter
Arriving at this beautiful spa creates an undeniable sense of anticipation. When you step out of the elevator, you'll find yourself in an otherworldly, cave-like space. HEAD SPA Kuu prides itself on curating an all-encompassing relaxation experience, so everything has been carefully designed to help you feel at ease, even the design of the lobby.
There are a total of five treatment spaces. Each secluded space is completely private and closed off by doors, so you can receive your treatment without prying eyes. The curved walls and doors create a gentle, comforting atmosphere, as if the space were wrapping its arms around you in a tender embrace.
It's finally time! Experiencing the massage therapist’s hospitality and skill
Finally, it's time to find out what a treatment at HEAD SPA Kuu is really like. First up is filling out a survey at the entrance. They’re more thorough than a typical spa, and will ask questions about current ailments or concerns regarding your scalp or skin.
After you’re guided to your private room, you can change into the clothing provided especially for the treatment. Going barefoot in the treatment room feels liberating.
At HEAD SPA Kuu, all treatments begin with a footbath. Warming the feet promotes blood circulation and relaxes the body. As your body warms up, you might even be lulled off to sleep.
Now that you're nice and relaxed, a massage therapist will ask for more details about your needs and concerns based on your survey answers. They're here to listen to anything that’s bothering your skin and scalp, from dryness to changes in the weather. As you chat, they'll comb your hair and gently examine your scalp, helping you identify issues you might not have been aware of yourself, which is a hallmark of HEAD SPA Kuu's.
Gentle serenity in peaceful mood lighting - Let your worries melt away
Once your massage therapist has learned all about what you need, the lights in the room are dimmed except for gentle indirect lights around the floor. The bed is laid back and the treatment begins. Polite and dedicated, your massage therapist will tend to your every need, from the angle of the bed to the heat of your towel.
Before the scalp treatment, you will be led through an abdominal breathing exercise while your shoulders are relaxed. Deep breathing from the belly releases tension and enhances the effects of the treatment.
Then, the head spa experience begins. The massage therapist gently touches the scalp and carefully applies pressure to relieve any stiffness they may find.
The massage is slow and gentle. Pressure is only applied slightly on stiff areas, so it's painless. As the scalp relaxes, the face, neck, and shoulders, which are prone to tension, also unwind. Before you know it, your whole body will feel at ease. The model who experienced the treatment with us was impressed, saying, "I could feel my blood flow improving, which was so nice. I could have fallen right asleep!"
After the head massage, the scalp is cleansed with oil. The massage therapist applies steam as well, which helps remove dirt from pores and relax the body. It's a fantastic feeling that our model said was "like being inside a warm cloud."
After cleansing, the scalp is stimulated and washed with massage shampoo. They mainly use a shampoo original to their spa. They have fluffy or moist shampoos and let you choose based on the feeling you want for your scalp.
Once all the excess oil and grime have been washed away, the "head cream spa" begins. During this, the scalp is moisturized to maintain the balance of oil and moisture in the skin.
The scalp is softened after the massage. Our model was surprised by how nice it felt, saying, "It feels like the cream will preserve my skin’s softness."
After the cream is washed off, a hair treatment is applied. This treatment is the same quality of treatment used in beauty salons, and your massage therapist selects a type that best suits your hair. Every strand of hair has been moisturized, so the comb slides right through while applying the hair treatment.
After you get up from the bed, the finishing touch is an after-massage and blow-dry. Your hair is carefully dried while your scalp is continually moisturized.
As you gradually wake up from your deep relaxation, your head will feel light on your shoulders and any tension in your face will have lifted completely.
Once you're finished, you can relax with tea. Relieved of all stiffness and tension, you’ll feel like you’re floating as you gaze down on the big city below you.
Original shampoo and hair treatment products are also available
HEAD SPA Kuu uses their own original hair and body care products, the Kuu Aqua free series. While most hair and body care products are made with more than 50% water, the Kuu Aqua free series uses collagen extract instead of water to maximize moisturizing power. It also contains limuveil, an ingredient extracted from natural mozuku seaweed, which is highly moisturizing and effective in protecting hair and skin.
Five types of shampoos, two types of treatments, and four types of leave-in products are available. If you like any of the products used during the massage, you can purchase them right there at the store.
Another rave review! Our model shares her candid opinion
We asked the model who experienced the treatment what she really thought about today's treatment.
"Not only the scalp massage, but the oil, shampoo, and hair treatment were all done very well and helped me relax. My body feels so light and refreshed, from the top of my back to my scalp. The stiffness in my neck, which had gotten pretty bad, is now completely gone! My head feels so light. It's wonderful," she gushed.
Not only was the stiffness gone, but her hair was lustrous and soft. "My hair is smooth and silky! I want to touch it all the time," she said as she stroked her hair.
"At HEAD SPA Kuu, we consider the entire body, not just the scalp. If your scalp is well taken care of, that also improves the condition of your hair. A healthy scalp prevents sagging and aging in your face, as well," the massage therapist confidently explained.
Plus, even more guests had good things to say. "There's a relaxing atmosphere here from the moment you enter. I know some people come to Japan for the hot springs, but I think it would be nice to experience a Japanese spa in addition to that." According to the massage therapist, a lot of guests from overseas also visit their spa. "We even have repeat customers who come to Japan just for HEAD SPA Kuu," she said.
