Description
In December 2010, a facility opened with the theme of monodzukuri―artisanship under the elevated bridge between the JR's Akihabara Station and Okachimachi Station. Many works by skilled creators sensitive to trends are found in the galleries, workshops, cafes, and shops. Original products not available anywhere else are sold, and workshops where you can experience craftsmanship are held. Among others, Takumi-no-Hako, which handles traditional Japanese crafts, and Nihon-Hyakkaten, which introduces excellent works and food from all over Japan, are especially worth visiting. The facility sells a variety of creative products, such as tableware created by young artists using traditional technique, in which craftsmen's attentions to details are shown. The name 2k540 comes from the distance between this facility and the Tokyo Station being 2 kilometers and 540 meters, whereas the name AKI-OKA is made up of the first three letters of Akihabara Station and Okachimachi Station. It is a six-minute walk from the JR Akihabara Station or a four-minute walk from the JR Okachimachi Station.
