Akihabara is famous around the world as a sacred place for anime, manga, games, and cosplay. But as the area has excellent transit access, cheap hotels in Akihabara have become a go-to for folks on a budget.
Today, we will introduce four cheap Akihabara hostels and hotels, complete with facilities and available at great deals of only about 5,000 yen per person.
1. APA Hotel Akihabara Ekimae: Cheap Akihabara Hotels, Major Brands!
APA Hotel is one of Japan’s leading hotel chain brands. It features a luxurious lobby area with fancy chandeliers and functional rooms, making it popular with both local business people and overseas travelers alike.
The brand offers two cheap Akihabara hotels in the Akihabara area. The APA Hotel Akihabara Ekimae location introduced here is conveniently located a short 1-minute walk away from Akihabara Station.
In addition to large-screen TVs and comfortable beds for a good night’s sleep, rooms are also fully equipped with a unit bath that saves about 20% more water than a normal bathtub, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing bath while also being good for the environment. It is compact yet functional and full-featured.
Of course, being a popular destination and a convenient location, you might not always be able to grab a deal at under 5,000 yen per person, yet you can still save a great deal by checking the schedule and reservations, and planning accordingly. For example, two people splitting one 10,000 yen room (tax included) is still a great value plan!
(*Room rates may vary by day)
It is recommended to check APA hotels frequently via the multilingual official website and app for lowest prices and available coupons.
One tip for discounted rates is that accommodation charges tend to be lower on Sundays and public holidays (in the event of consecutive day holidays, the last day is cheapest).
Additional services for travelers are free wi-fi access in all rooms and the lobby area, as well as free airing of the BBC World News. We recommend checking the discount schedule when planning to book private rooms for couples or families, as well as for all other available hotel services.

2. GRIDS AKIHABARA: Complete with Both Dormitory and Private Rooms
GRIDS AKIHABARA is a hotel/hostel with a chic, modern interior and a variety of rooms.
If you're really on a budget and looking for cheap Akihabara hotels, we recommend the bunk bed dorm rooms, with plans that can cost as little as 3,000 yen, depending on the schedule.
If your main concern is privacy, you can get a single bed dormitory room or a 2-bunk private family room, for families, friends, and couples. Lastly, in the style of a luxury hotel, you can also book deluxe rooms, or fancy Japanese-style rooms. The ability to choose from a variety of room types according to purpose and party size is just one of the charms of this hotel.
It is also very convenient for shopping and walking around Akihabara Station, as well as Asakusabashi Station. As it is easily accessible from both Haneda and Narita Airport, it is also very popular with tourists from all around the world.
One of GRID’s concepts is, “A Hub/Hostel That Connects Us, Trip to Trip, Person to Person, and Heart to Heart.”
The lobby at the entrance is a stylish bar & lounge, where events such as parties are occasionally held. This cutting-edge hotel/hostel is bound to continue to grow more and more into the future as an exciting hub for travelers from all countries around the globe.

3. Bnbplus Costelun Akiba: Women-Only Hostel, Cosplayers Welcome!
Bnbplus Costelun Akiba is quite a unique female-only dormitory. Once you enter the guest-only, auto-lock entrance, you come to a Japanese-style room, reminiscent of the Japanese families of the good old days. This is the space to enjoy a meal, chat with other visitors, and just have a good time.
The capsule-style bunks are divided into neighboring rooms with a wall for a sense of privacy. Part of the area is a warm beige, with the other area a mysterious black wall.
Showers and bathrooms with tubs are available. The pop-style checkered floors of the dressing rooms are also popular with the ladies.
Prices may vary according to schedule, but you can stay here for as low as 2,000 yen. The staff recommends booking as early as possible and opting for a weekday or Sunday stay.
(*Room rates may vary by day)
The name “Costelun” is a term coined from a combination of “cosplay” and “hostel,” emphasizing that it is indeed a cosplayer-friendly place to stay.
You can even borrow an iron or a sewing machine free of charge to prepare your costume, and take a commemorative photo holding a large cosplay shield as a prop. There are also regularly scheduled night-time workshops held by wig experts.
Accommodation information is available in several languages including English, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Korean, Spanish, and Russian. The resident female staff members also use translation apps to better accommodate travelers from all countries. This is the spot for culture-loving gals to gather from all around the world.
Along with the hotel library and cosplay item, you will also find people from many countries excitedly engaged in “otaku talk,” (and of course, regular, non-cosplaying tourists are also always welcome!) This is a new style of hostel where you can enjoy more than just the accommodation, but a wide range of experiences!

Hiromas Hostel Akihabara is a cheap Akihabara hostel with a chic interior that also incorporates the Japanese taste.

There is also a safe and a power supply in the bed. The shower, bathroom, and dressing rooms are available 24 hours a day.
The first floor is a stylish cafe-like lounge space. There are a table, sofa, and counter area where many visitors come to eat, work, or study at their own pace.
There is a kitchen and a fridge as well as dishes such as pots and pans, and even seasonings available for guests to use for free. You can even borrow a takoyaki machine, making this stylish lounge the perfect place to throw a takoyaki party, too!
For such a well-equipped facility, the room rates are quite reasonable, ranging from around 2,000 yen to 4,500 yen per night. Many people book rooms for more than one night.
(*Room rates may vary by day)
Another unique feature of Hiromas Hostel is their option for daytime use in increments of 30 minutes. This is very useful for a quick break between travel and business meetings, to take a shower, or to simply enjoy the lounge.
There is even a rental bike available which could be useful for those staying more than one night, and recommended for those who want to enjoy a comfortable yet affordable trip.
