Kawagoe City Museum

The Kawagoe City Museum is built on the concept of a merchant house in a warehouse style on the site of the outer citadel of the old Kawagoe Castle. Its purpose is to collect, research, preserve, and exhibit materials related to Kawagoe, which prospered as a castle town. In the exhibition room, the history of the town, starting from the primitive and ancient eras and reaching to the modern era, is introduced in an easy-to-understand manner. A diorama of the landscape of warehouse buildings has been reproduced and is one of the exhibits that you can use to understand what a castle town was like at that time. There is also a video room and a hands-on learning room where you can experience weaving. One of the museum's attractions is that you can experience the history of Kawagoe. There is an open tea lounge in the building, so you can take a break while appreciating the scenery of the courtyard. For access to the museum, take a Tobu bus for a Koshido sightseeing tour or an Eagle Bus for a Koedo tour from the Hon-kawagoe Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, from the Kawagoe Station on the Tobu Tojo Line, or the JR Kawagoe Line, and get off at the Hakubutsukan-mae bus stop.
