Description
The Hodosan Small Animal Park, or the Mt. Hodo Small Animal Park, is situated at the peak of Mt. Hodo, which is 497 meters above sea level. It is a five-minute ropeway ride from the Nagatoro Station. The Nagatoro area has the Nagatoro Valley, which is designated as a National Site of Scenic Beauty, and has other famous sightseeing spots. The park was opened in 1960 as a wild monkey park. The main attraction of the park is interacting with animals such as the Japanese macaque monkeys and Japanese Shika deer, surrounded by clean air and rich nature. In the small animals area, you can meet rabbits, goats, miniature pigs, and raccoon dogs. Japanese macaques are in the monkey hill, and deer and pigs are untethered at the foot of the monkey hill. At snack time, visitors can feed rabbits, llamas, and monkeys. Beautiful seasonal flowers bloom in Mt. Hodo, so you can enjoy yellow wintersweet that blooms in winter and plum blossoms that signal the coming of spring. Take a ropeway from the Chichibu Railway Nagatoro Station. It is a seven-minute walk from the Sancho (the peak) ropeway station.
