Kanazawa Station

金沢駅

Description

Kanazawa Station is the gateway to Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture, reachable from both Tokyo and Kansai via the Hokuriku Shinkansen. Its striking wooden Tsuzumi Gate and glass-walled Motenashi Dome make it one of Japan’s most iconic stations.
The station contains souvenir shops and restaurants, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the city. The main tourist information center handles sightseeing assistance, same-day luggage delivery, activity reservations, and sales of the Kanazawa City 1-Day Pass for unlimited bus rides inside the city.
A dedicated counter for international visitors is also available, offering free umbrella and wheelchair rentals.
Although major attractions are not directly next to the station, loop buses from the east exit make it easy to reach highlights such as Omicho Market, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, and Kenrokuen Garden. The 1-Day Pass provides good value for moving around efficiently.
