Hara Model Railway Museum

This museum invites the public to enjoy the massive amount of model trains and railway related items created or collected by well-known collector and creator of model trains Nobutaro Hara. Hara's models have two unique features. First one is that they are recreations of railway cars from not only Japan but also from Europe, the United States and other places, and the second one is that they are faithful to the originals. The model trains actually draw power from overhead lines, run on iron rails with iron wheels, and even make the same sounds as real trains. Enjoy watching or controlling the 1:32 scale models. Covering 310 square meters, the elaborate dioramas in which they run constitute one of the largest such facilities in the world. The museum also displays many railway collectables besides model trains: the first tickets issued, antique railway toys and other rare items. A five-minute walk from JR Yokohama Station, or a two-minute walk from Shin-Takashima Station on the Minato-Mirai Line.
