Harbor View Park

港の見える丘公園

Description

This park is situated on the hillside that overlooks Yokohama Harbor. The area used to be a foreign settlement when Yokohama Port was opened, with the British military stationed on the upper side of the hill and the French military on the lower side. In 1962, it was opened as an urban park, officiated by former Mayor Nakarai, who cut the tape at the opening ceremony. Since the opening of the Rose Garden in 1991, it has become a famous spot to enjoy 1,300 roses from 110 species. You will also enjoy the Osaragi Jiro Memorial Museum, a museum of the novelist Jiro Osaragi, who was born in Yokohama and wrote novels with Yokohama as their motif, as well as the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature, both of which are located in the park. The park has become a popular dating spot because of the night view of the Bay Bridge lit up in blue. The Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery and the Yamate Museum are also nearby. It is a five-minute walk from the Minato Mirai Line Motomachi-Chinatown Station.
