This prominent building is a National Tangible Cultural Asset owing to its traditional gabled, hipped roof, four-story tower and boxes containing shutters with the ryokan's name written on them in lacquer paint. The guestrooms are also designed in traditional Japanese architectural style. The top floor has been converted into an elegant lounge.
