Description
Ishiyama-dera Temple sits on the banks of the Seta river and is the thirteenth temple of the Saikoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage, a pilgrimage that worships the deity Kannon across the Kinki area of Japan. The temple has many national treasures including the Hondo (main hall) and Tohoto Pagoda. It’s also known for the spot where Murasaki Shikibu wrote “The Tale of Genji”. This temple is also known for its famous seasonal blooms which include plum and cherry blossoms, and the changing of the leaves in autumn.
