Experiencing Manga as Culture, Not Just Reading It: Expo 2025 with Rumiko Takahashi

At the official on-site store “ EXPO2025 OFFICIAL STORE EAST GATE MARUZEN JUNKUDO” collaboration goods themed around “The World of Manga” are on sale, featuring Rumiko Takahashi’s globally popular works, UruseiYatsura, Ranma1/2, and InuYasha. These items were created with the aim of sharing Japan’s manga culture worldwide, taking the Expo as an opportunity to present it as a cultural experience.

For the master design, DNP’s cultural reproduction technology, Denshoubi®, was used to reinterpret original manga scenes as folding screen art. As products that embody the cultural value of manga on an international stage, they deliver the charm of Cool Japan to fans around the world.

The folding screen design is not merely for display; it serves as the base design for all kinds of products, including T-shirts, posters, and folding fan, symbolizing “manga as culture” through a fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern printing technology. By weaving the stories of UruseiYatsura, Ranma1/2, and InuYasha into everyday tasks such as putting on a T-shirt, using a folding fan, and displaying a poster, manga evolves from something you “read” to something you “live.”

Location:: East Gate Marketplace

Access: Take the convenient Osaka Metro Chuo Line directly connected to Yumeshima Station (C09) in front of the Expo 2025 site (East Gate).

For visitors traveling by shinkansen
・From JR Shin-Osaka Station (A46), take the JR Kyoto Line to Osaka Station (A47), where you will transfer to the Osaka Loop Line (inner loop) heading toward JR Bentencho Station (O15). From there, transfer to the Osaka Metro Chuo Line.
・From Osaka Metro Shin-Osaka Station (M13), take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line to Hommachi Station (M18), where you will transfer to the Osaka Metro Chuo Line.

For visitors traveling by plane
・From JR Kansai-airport Station (S47), take the JR Kansai Airport Line or JR Hanwa Line to Tennoji Station (R20), where you will transfer to the Osaka Loop Line (outer loop) to JR Bentencho Station (O15). From there, transfer to the Osaka Metro Chuo Line.
・From Nankai Kansai-airport Station (NK32), take the Nankai Airport Line or Nankai Main Line to Namba Station (NK01), where you will transfer to the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line heading toward Hommachi Station (M18). From there, transfer to the Osaka Metro Chuo Line.
