Time to Check In to a Hotel Full of Fun and Excitement!

As you walk through the hotel entrance, you're greeted by the soothing sound of flowing water, paired with a refreshing, subtle scent that fills the air. You might even think, 'Do I smell the bananas that the Minions like?' Well, it's actually the scent of Optimism, which perfectly sets the mood for a relaxing resort vibe.
Throughout the hotel, you'll also find adorable Minion designs scattered everywhere, adding even more charm.

At the front desk, the staff greets you with a warm smile and attentive service. Behind the counter, there's a beautiful aquarium that adds a touch of the ocean, perfectly in line with the hotel's name. It creates a calming atmosphere while still capturing the excitement of the theme park, making for a memorable check-in experience.

On the first floor, the Ticket Counter lets you purchase Studio Passes for Universal Studios Japan for the day of your stay, as well as for the following day.

Near the front desk, you'll find a variety of convenient services for tourists. On the first floor, there are three coin lockers (100 yen, coin-return type), so you can store your luggage while enjoying the park. The hotel also has a currency exchange machine, where you can exchange foreign currency or load it onto an e-money card. With these guest-friendly services, it's easy to relax and enjoy your stay.
Stay in Japan's One and Only Minion Room!
The biggest draw of Hotel Universal Port is its unique themed guest rooms. In addition to the standard rooms, there are several concept rooms to choose from. Among them, you definitely don't want to miss the exclusive Minion Rooms (available in 3 different types)!
Minion Room 1 – Gru's Mansion

The Minion Room, created in collaboration with Universal Studios Japan, is themed around the world of the Despicable Me movie series.

The room features fun touches like a missile-shaped bed, Gru's crocodile-shaped sofa, and a scene where Minions burst through the walls and ceiling with iron balls, just like in the movies. Various Minions are also hidden around the room, waiting to be discovered.
If you press the intercom at the entrance, you'll even hear the Minions' voices — it's a playful little surprise! Once you start exploring the room, you might find even more hidden gems.
Minion Room 2 – Agnes and the Gang's Room

There's also a room inspired by the three sisters from the Despicable Me series — Margot, Edith, and Agnes.
When you open the door, you'll be greeted by a huge bear-shaped chair that stands about 2 meters tall. Plus, Agnes' beloved unicorn plushie from the movies has been transformed into a sofa, and of course, there's the attention-grabbing missile-shaped bed. It's a charming, quirky room filled with unique décor — perfect for a fun, cozy stay.

Just like the first Minion Room, this one also has a special surprise: open the door to the bunk bed, and you'll hear the voices of the Minions. It's a delightful touch that really makes you feel like you've stepped into the movie.
Minion Room 3 – The Amusement Park of Memories: 'Super Silly Fun Land'

The third Minion Room, newly created, is inspired by Super Silly Fun Land, the memorable amusement park from Despicable Me 2 where Gru and the three sisters bond. As soon as you step into the room, you'll be amazed by the impressive, rollercoaster-themed bunk beds!

This room also features a TV stand inspired by the Space Killer game that Agnes played to win her beloved unicorn plushie. Throughout the room, you'll find designs referencing various scenes from the movie. If you rewatch the film before your stay, you'll definitely appreciate all the little details even more!
What Do All the Minion Rooms Have in Common?

When you stay in a Minion Room, you'll receive exclusive collaboration gifts from Universal Studios Japan and Hotel Universal Port. You'll get a practical yet cute Laundry Mesh Pouch and an Amenity Pouch, both designed with fun Minion themes.
Plus, there's a 'Special Gift' that changes with the seasons and what you'll receive is a surprise, so it's something to look forward to during your stay!
Note: The items shown were available for stays from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. The design and content are subject to change.

In the Minion Rooms, you'll find Minion-inspired yellow accents everywhere — on the pillows, sheets, cups, trash cans, slippers, and more. It really feels like you're spending time with the Minions themselves in a fun, exciting space!
Into the World of Adventure! The 'Thrilling Adventure Room'

In addition to the Minion Rooms, there are plenty of other fascinating rooms to choose from. One example is the 'Thrilling Adventure Room,' a concept room inspired by a jungle hut. This room, which accommodates 2 to 5 guests (40 square meters), offers a truly unique experience.
A standout feature is that the two sets of bunk beds can be connected, allowing four people to create a secret hideout-like atmosphere, making it the perfect space for families or friends to enjoy an exciting stay.
The 'WAKU WAKU Wonder Room' – Perfect for Little Ones

The 'WAKU WAKU Wonder Room' is a concept room designed for families traveling with babies or young children, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.
This spacious room, measuring 40 square meters, accommodates 2 to 3 people. The floor is made of soft materials, and the bed is low (about 20cm in height) and wide (around 2.9 meters), making it perfect for the whole family to relax and unwind together.
In addition, the room is equipped with a baby bottle warmer, microwave, and face care products — ensuring that everyone in the family has a comfortable stay.
The Largest Room: 'Premium Palace'

The 'Premium Palace' is the largest room in the hotel, offering a spacious 63 square meters of comfort. It features a large sofa, a 55-inch TV, and two double beds (140cm wide), providing plenty of space to relax.
The bathroom is equally impressive, with a 32-inch TV, a jet bath, an overhead shower, and various relaxing features like shoulder and rain showers — everything you need for the ultimate relaxation experience.
Relax in Style: 'Aegean Deluxe'

The 'Aegean Deluxe' room is perfect for those who want to feel like they're on a resort by the Aegean Sea. This spacious room (40 square meters) accommodates 2 to 4 people and features a calming design of white and blue tones. While the unique concept rooms are certainly appealing, this room offers a more tranquil space for those who prefer to relax in a serene environment.
Endless Sushi and More! A Luxurious Dinner Buffet You'll Love

On the 2nd floor, you'll find the buffet restaurant Port Dining Licorico. True to its 'treasure hunting' theme, the restaurant is filled with an array of delicious dishes that feel like hidden treasures.

The dinner buffet is available in a 120-minute block, offering a wide variety of dishes made with seasonal ingredients. During my visit, it was the 'Winter Fair' season, so I was able to indulge in the unique flavors of winter.

The dessert corner is a feast for the eyes, with a colorful selection of cakes, tarts, waffles, and more, taking your satisfaction to the next level. Be sure to indulge and enjoy every bite!

Meet Giant Dinosaurs at the Lounge R Restaurant

On the 1st floor, you'll find the entertaining Lounge R restaurant. Designed with a giant dinosaur motif, the restaurant offers a lively atmosphere where you can enjoy Japanese craft beer, whiskey, sake, tropical cocktails, as well as light snacks and lunch.

A model t-rex skeleton hangs from the ceiling, and dinosaur horn-inspired lamps are mounted on the walls, adding to the theme.

During lunch, you can enjoy a variety of dishes, including a weekly pasta lunch, a monthly changing lunch set, and steak. One standout is the 'Monthly Burger,' a hearty set meal that includes a soft drink before your meal, French fries, a salad, corn soup, and coffee or tea afterward, all for just 1,300 yen. Lunch is served from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. (Restaurant hours: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, last entry at 9:30 PM)
Rex Café: A Great Selection of Light Meals

In front of the lounge, you'll find Rex Café. Here, you can enjoy drinks like coffee and tea, light bites such as sandwiches and hot dogs, as well as Japanese favorites like soy sauce ramen and beef curry.

One highlight is the soy sauce ramen, a quintessential Japanese noodle dish. The savory, soy-based broth has a light, refreshing taste, perfect for lunch or a late-night snack. It's a great way to casually enjoy a taste of Japanese food culture.
Rex Shopping Street: Unique Goods and Souvenirs

Rex Café is also home to the Rex Shopping Street, where you can pick up snacks and souvenirs while taking a break. (Open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM)

Popular items include classic Japanese snacks, with mayonnaise-flavored snacks being especially popular as Osaka souvenirs. You'll also find TOMICA miniature cars, models of shops selling Osaka's famous takoyaki, dinosaur figurines, and more. It's a great place to enjoy leisurely shopping right within the hotel.
