Osaka’s food, Kyoto’s historic streets, and Nara’s famous deer are all waiting beyond Kansai International Airport. However, carrying a large suitcase onto crowded trains or making a separate trip to your hotel can make the first day of your trip more tiring than expected.
Open from August 1, 2026, the new Yamato Transport Terminal 1, 4th Floor North Counter offers luggage delivery, storage, collection, and wrapping services. By sending or storing your bags at the airport, you can begin exploring Kansai with less luggage and more freedom.
Helpful Services for Foreign Visitors

Often called Kuroneko Yamato after its familiar black cat logo, Yamato Transport is one of Japan’s best-known delivery companies.
Its new counter on the fourth floor of Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 will be open daily from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM. The counter provides four services designed to make traveling with luggage easier.
1. Luggage Delivery: Send your bags to hotels, residences, and other eligible destinations throughout Japan.
2. Luggage Collection: Pick up baggage that you sent to the airport in advance.
3. Temporary Luggage Storage: Leave your bags at the counter while spending time at the airport or exploring the surrounding area.
4. Luggage Wrapping: Protect suitcases from dirt and scratches with a layer of protective film.
How to Use the Yamato Transport Counter
Same-Day Luggage Delivery from Kansai Airport
Bring your luggage to the counter and provide the staff with your accommodation and delivery details. Staff will confirm the destination, expected delivery time, baggage size, and applicable fee before accepting your luggage. Travelers using same-day delivery should check the reception deadline and confirm that their accommodation is within the eligible service area. See the official website for details.
Same-Day Luggage Delivery from Kansai Airport
Drop off your bags by the applicable deadline, and they can be delivered to eligible accommodations after 6 PM that day.
・By 10 AM: Same-day delivery to eligible accommodations in Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, and Shiga prefectures
・By 12:30 PM: Same-day delivery to eligible accommodations in Osaka City and Kyoto City
Some destinations and accommodations may not be eligible. Confirm that your accommodation is covered before using the service. See the official website for details and pricing.
Temporary Storage and Airport Collection
Travelers who only need to leave their bags for a short time can use the temporary luggage storage service at the counter.
You can also arrange to collect luggage at Kansai Airport before your return flight. When sending your bags to the airport in advance, confirm the required delivery date, shipping deadline, and collection instructions. See the official website for details.
Where to Go After Sending Your Luggage
Using Yamato Transport’s same-day delivery service means you can begin sightseeing without first making a separate trip to your hotel.
Dotonbori, Osaka
Head into central Osaka and begin your trip with takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and the bright signs of Dotonbori. Traveling without a suitcase makes it easier to move through the busy streets, enter compact restaurants, and enjoy the area at your own pace.
Gion and Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto
Kyoto’s buses, stone-paved streets, steep slopes, and crowded sightseeing areas can be difficult to navigate with large luggage. Sending your suitcase ahead makes it much easier to explore Gion, Kiyomizu-dera, and the surrounding historic neighborhoods.
Nara Park
Explore Nara Park and meet its famous deer without having to pull a suitcase behind you. Traveling light also makes it easier to walk between Nara Station, the park, nearby temples, and the surrounding shopping streets.
