Description
The main hall enshrines the Vairocana-Buddha, the principle image known colloquially as Nara's Great Buddha. The present structure was rebuilt in the mid-Edo period. It is the world's largest wooden structure, spanning 57-meters across, 50-meters deep, and 48-meters high.
