Description
This temple was built by Empress Komyo in 747 with the hope of curing her husband Emperor Shomu's eye disease. The main hall is built with hip and gable roof, and is the only surviving structure from this time period. The inside of the hall is home to national treasures such as a seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai and a standing statue of the twelve protective deities.
