Description
This three-tiered pagoda was built in 638 during the 10th year of emperor Jomei’s reign. The only part left of the original establishment is the three-tiered pagoda, a national treasure and the oldest and largest of its kind in Japan. Its main temple, bell tower, sanctuary, and more were reconstructed during the Edo period. It is a registered world heritage site.
