A hotel where the sophistication of Kyoto culture and the traditions of British culture are in harmony. The design is based on the theme of Scottish arts and crafts and the ancient city of Edinburgh, located north of England. Kyoto and Edinburgh are not only sister cities, but are also very similar as beautiful ancient cities in Europe and Asia, with their old townscapes, traditional lifestyles and cultures. The design is based on the theme of culture related to common crafts. We have installed ultra-fine mist "Miracle" in all guest rooms, which will make your hotel stay more comfortable and provide you with a different bath experience than usual.
Continuing the journey to the local area This is Kyoto Sanjo, which was once depicted as the starting/ending point of the Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido. It is a place where people and things from all over the country gathered and created new culture. We will develop various content with local players from all over Japan based on this context. We hope that our activities will bring new excitement to the city of Kyoto and provide an opportunity for visitors to travel to attractive local areas of Japan. <About the existing building> This building is the former Nippon Life Kyoto Sanjo Building, which is partially a registered tangible cultural property. The cultural property part of the building, which began construction in 1912 and was completed in 1914, was designed by the Tatsuno & Kataoka Architectural Office led by Tatsuno Kingo, known for Tokyo Station, and their style is well reflected in the stone-clad exterior. Currently, all that remains is one span of the company building facing Yanagi-no-Maba-dori, which was demolished in 1983 leaving only that part, and the office building was expanded.
