Description

The main event is the Jidai Gyoretsu, a procession of 2,000 people dressed in historical costumes. The costumes begin with the clothing styles of the Meiji Period (1868 to 1912), and then cover 8 historical periods, going right back to the founding of Kyoto in 794. This beautiful and splendid procession reaches a length of 2km.

The Jidai Festival begins from 7:00, while the timing of other events can change.
30 minutes from JR Kyoto Station on the City Bus line 5 bound for Iwakura Soshajo-mae, get off at the Okazaki Koen / Bijutsukan, Heian Jingu-mae stop, 3-minute walk (Heian Jingu)
