Description

Mitera Sennyu-ji Temple is the head temple for the Shingon sect of Buddhism and began with Kukai’s hermitage. After the construction of an imperial tomb for Emperor Shijo here, many other imperial tombs followed. It is said that the Youkihi-Kannon, enshrined in the Kannon hall, was created by Chinese Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty.
