Description
Enkokuji Temple was established in 1601 during the Keicho period as the Kyoto branch of Ashikaga Gakko in Fushimi by Ieyasu Tokugawa. It was moved sixty years later to its current position. The school formerly educated monks and warriors, and it’s now part of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.
