Description
This is one of three temples in Japan dedicated to the Monju Bodhisattva and is known as the scared grounds of Monjubasatsu for ages. The emperor Heizei made a historical visit here during the Heian period. It is unknown when the Monju Hall was built. The Tahoto Pagoda, built during the Muromachi period, is designated by the government as an important cultural property. Inside the temple, Shakai Nyorai (believed to be the Buddha who created all life) and Sixteen Arhats are enshrined.
