Description
Ice floes connect a diverse ecosystem, backed by striking mountains and seaside cliffs born of volcanic activity. Shiretoko gets its name from an Ainu expression meaning the ”furthest reaches”: ”Shiri Etoku”, and is the northernmost point in Japan. A diverse ecosystem can be witnessed at Shiretoko National Park, with animals like brown bears and orca.
