Description
Donations from locals and a sizable contribution from wealthy merchant Teppei Soma funded the construction of this wooden western-style hall in 1910. Emperor Taisho stayed here when he was yet Crown Prince Yoshihito. Emperor Showa (Hirohito) and Emperor Akihito also rested in its royal suite. The building is designated an Important Cultural Asset by the city of Hakodate.
