If you're heading to Osaka or Kobe, why not make the journey itself part of the experience? There’s some delightfully fun news to help you do just that. Starting March 26, 2026, Hanshin Electric Railway, which connects key cities across Kansai, is teaming up with the globally loved Sesame Street.
Colorful wrapped trains featuring characters like Elmo and Cookie Monster will run along the line, while a special “overprint stamp rally” pops up at popular sightseeing spots. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about thislimited-time collaboration, along with a look at the Hanshin line’s unique character and suggested routes to help you make the most of your trip.
"Moving Art" Wrapping Trains: Two Sets of Photo Spots Around Town
The highlight of this collaboration is a pair of specially wrapped trains themed around Elmo and Cookie Monster. These globally beloved characters will brighten journeys across key Kansai areas, including Osaka, Amagasaki, Nishinomiya, and Kobe.

「COOKIE MONSTER’s MOGUMOGU TRAIN」(5700 Series)

"Overprint" Stamp Rally: Turn Travel Memories into Art
Running from March 26 to May 10, 2026, the “Find the Sesame Street Friends Hidden Along the Hanshin Line!” stamp rally is more than just collecting stamps. Visit six locations and layer each color to gradually complete a vibrant, original piece of art. The finished card also makes a fun and memorable souvenir to take home from Japan.
Stamp Rally Spots: Journey Through Kansai’s History and Culture

1. Sesame Street Market (Hanshin Umeda): The world’s only all-in-one Sesame Street shop
2. Amagasaki Tourist Bureau: A gateway to the historic castle town of Amagasaki
3. Koshien History Museum: A must-visit for baseball fans, celebrating over 100 years of history
4. Hanshin Nishinomiya Info: Conveniently located near Nishinomiya Shrine
5. Metro Table Tennis (Kosoku-Kobe): A unique spot showcasing retro underground culture
6. Mt. Rokko Souvenir Shop: A scenic stop at 900 meters with sweeping views
History Meets Trends: Experience "Real Japan" in Kansai
The areas along the Hanshin Railway offer a unique mix of historic charm and modern culture. In that sense, Sesame Street’s message of “diversity” feels right at home, reflecting how the line has evolved by bringing together different cultures and influences.
Nishinomiya & Amagasaki: Enjoy old and new Japanese culture, from sake breweries to Amagasaki Castle where you can experience Samurai culture.
Kobe & Rokko: A port city that was among the first to welcome Western culture. Finally, stamp your card at Mt. Rokko and enjoy the "10-million-dollar night view."
Why This Collab?

Since its debut in 1969, Sesame Street has shared the message that “everyone has a place.” In a similar spirit, the Hanshin Group welcomes all travelers under its slogan, “All the ‘Precious’ Things, Together.” As you layer each stamp color by color, the idea comes to life: different personalities coming together to create something bright and meaningful.
Enjoy Your Own "Sesame Story" on Hanshin Railway

From the energy of Osaka to the traditions of Nishinomiya and the elegance of Kobe, the Hanshin Railway brings it all together, with Elmo and Cookie Monster along for the ride. Spot a colorful wrapped train, collect stamps along the way, and turn the journey into part of the fun. This spring, why not explore Kansai along one of its most entertaining rail routes?
