This winter, Jujutsu Kaisen is appearing in an unexpected place: the Shinkansen.
From December 17, 2025, JR East will launch a special collaboration featuring a Jujutsu Kaisen–themed Shinkansen running across eastern Japan. The campaign turns high-speed rail travel into part of the experience, linking anime, sightseeing, and regional exploration.
For travelers visiting Japan during the season, it offers a limited-time way to see Tohoku and beyond through a pop culture lens.

Travel with your fave! Set off for a Tohoku tour on the special wrapped Shinkansen!
One of the main features of the campaign is a specially wrapped Shinkansen operating on the Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines, turning the train itself into part of the experience.
The E5 Series gets a Jujutsu Kaisen makeover! Check out the design and routes.

JR East’s flagship E5 Series Shinkansen will be fully wrapped in a special Jujutsu Kaisen design, transforming an entire 10-car trainset into a moving piece of anime art.
The exterior features characters from the TV anime’s third season, Culling Game Arc Part 1, including Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Yuta Okkotsu, Choso, and Naoya Zen’in, along with visuals created to mark the anime’s fifth anniversary. The wrapped train is scheduled to operate from December 17, 2025 through around mid-May 2026 on the Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines, covering the route between Tokyo and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. It will appear on services such as Hayabusa, Hayate, Yamabiko, and Nasuno.
Specific operating times have not been announced, which means spotting the train is left to chance. For many fans, that unpredictability is part of the appeal. Whether you encounter it at a major station or unexpectedly see it pull in beside you, riding or even just spotting the wrapped Shinkansen adds an extra layer of excitement to traveling through Tohoku and northern Japan.

Experience the East Japan Excursion With Voice and AR
Even if you do not manage to ride the wrapped Shinkansen, the campaign still offers plenty to enjoy. Another major feature is a location-based experience that uses voice content, AR, and digital stamps to guide fans through key spots across eastern Japan.
Exclusive Voice Content: Hear your fave’s voice on Locatone™!
Hear Your Favorite Characters With Location-Based Voice and AR
Fans can unlock original voice content using the Locatone™ app, which plays audio tied to specific locations using Sony’s location-based technology. The experience runs from December 17, 2025 to March 31, 2026 and features voices from Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Yuta Okkotsu, and Choso.
To complete the experience, participants begin by collecting locations in either the Tokyo metropolitan area or Sendai. They then ride the Tohoku Shinkansen to collect all designated spots along the route between Omiya and Sendai, before finishing at a final goal location at either Sendai Station or Takanawa Gateway Station. Travelers who meet all requirements will receive a limited-quantity original acrylic key holder.
As visitors approach certain locations, character voices play automatically, adding an immersive layer to the journey. In selected spots around Tokyo and Sendai, an AR camera feature also allows fans to take photos with the characters, turning ordinary stations and city spaces into memorable anime moments along the way.
Ekitag Stamp Rally: Conquer the "Four Barriers (Colonies)" in East Japan!

Ekitag Stamp Rally: Explore the Four Colonies of East Japan
A digital stamp rally inspired by the world of Jujutsu Kaisen will also run as part of the campaign, created in collaboration with the Ekitag station stamp app.
The rally is structured around four themed “colonies” spread across eastern Japan. These include major stations in Tokyo, a cluster of stations in and around Sendai, and single key stations in Iwate and Aomori. By visiting stations such as Hamamatsucho, Akihabara, Sendai, Morioka, and Shin-Aomori, participants gradually collect stamps that reflect locations tied into the campaign’s storyline.
Collecting stamps unlocks different rewards along the way. Even visiting a single station earns a commemorative stamp, while completing all twelve designated stations unlocks a special stamp and entry into a prize drawing. Fans who complete stamps across each colony can also collect character-specific designs featuring Megumi Fushiguro, Yuta Okkotsu, Choso, and Naoya Zen’in.
More than a simple checklist, the rally mirrors the Culling Game arc by spreading the experience across JR East’s rail network. By moving between Tokyo’s major hubs and regional stations in Tohoku, travelers experience both urban Japan and its northern regions in a way that naturally blends anime storytelling with real-world rail travel.
Special Exhibits to Brighten Your Journey! Snap a Memorial Photo with Posters & Panels.
Special Exhibits and Photo Spots Along the Way
In addition to the trains and digital experiences, special exhibits will appear at select locations, giving fans more chances to enjoy the collaboration during their trip.
Limited-edition posters and panels appear at major stations in Sendai, Iwate, and Aomori!
Limited Posters and Character Panels at Major Tohoku Stations
During the campaign period, several major stations across Tohoku will feature limited-edition posters and character panels tied to the Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration.
Stations such as Sendai, Iwanuma, Tagajo, Morioka, and Shin-Aomori will host these displays, giving travelers the chance to stop for photos or simply take in the artwork as they move through the region. For fans, these stations become easy photo stops that add another layer of fun to rail travel across northern Japan.

Discover Eastern Japan Through Anime and Rail Travel
Through its collaboration with Jujutsu Kaisen, JR East is using popular culture as a way to encourage travelers to explore regions beyond the usual routes.
By combining a themed Shinkansen, location-based voice and AR experiences, digital stamp rallies, and station displays, the campaign turns rail travel into a way to learn more about Japan’s geography and regional character along the way.
Even for visitors who are not deeply familiar with the series, the campaign offers a distinctive way to see eastern Japan, blending sightseeing with storytelling and seasonal travel. For those visiting this winter and spring, it adds an extra layer of discovery to journeys through Tohoku and northern Japan.
