Japan is currently imposing Covid-19 travel restrictions on international visitors and has strengthened quarantine measures on travelers permitted to enter the country. As a result, depending on the countries you have visited 14 days before arrival in Japan and your vaccination status, you may have to spend at least the first 3 days in quarantine at a government-designated hotel. After this period, travelers are required to stay at accommodations of their choice for the remaining 14-day quarantine period.

Quarantine information when entering Japan from overseas
All travelers who enter Japan must:
・Submit a certificate indicating a negative Covid test result conducted within 72 hours prior to their departure flight;
・Submit a written pledge at the time of arrival stating that they will not use public transportation for a period of 14 days;
・Complete a quarantine period of 14 days either at home or at an accommodation facility; and
・Store data on their location and comply with requests from public health authorities to provide this to them.
Additionally, people arriving from designated countries with coronavirus variant Omicron (B.1.1.529) are requested to spend their first 3 days at specific government-designated accommodations.
