Make an Impact at Home With These Uniquely-Shaped Postcards
These postcards of foods and famous sights representing each prefecture in Japan can only be bought in Tokyo, and make the perfect Tokyo souvenirs, especially if you’re on a budget. Interestingly, they are only available at post offices in Tokyo, making them extra special. The Kaminarimon, shown in the photo, is the main gate of Senso-ji, one of the most famous temples in Tokyo. Other Tokyo limited-edition cards include Tokyo Tower, the National Diet Building, and Ueno Zoo. Each card is 185 yen (incl. tax). You can see other postcards on the manufacturer's Posta Collect website.
Try Some Candies Full of Amaou Strawberries
Amaou is a variety of Japanese strawberries grown in Fukuoka and are characterized by their rich sweetness and fresh aftertaste. The Tokyo souvenir called the “Amaou Pouch” (2,268 yen/incl. tax) is an assortment of three types of candies made with generous portions of amaou: The first type is the "Ita-ame-hanehitoe” which melts on the tongue but has a crispy texture when bitten. Next is what’s called the "Sweet Lip," candy with a honey-like texture, and the "Bo-ame-niji-no-mukou,” which is a candy which packs a gentle sweet flavor that is said to remind Japanese people of their childhoods. They are only sold at Ginza Mitsukoshi, a department store in one of Japan's most luxurious shopping areas, Ginza.
These unique Japanese souvenirs are definitely worth checking out. Treat yourself (and your friends) to some of the best souvenirs in Tokyo!
