Tokyo is a true gourmet town where not only many world-class restaurants are at home but also where many different genres and cuisines come together to be enjoyed by tourists and Tokyoites alike. From long-established traditional restaurants to those that won stars from famous international gourmet guides, let’s take a look at Tokyo’s best restaurants run by masters of their art!
The Champagne Shop of a Famous Sommelier

The famous Japanese sommelier Makoto Abe has selected the very best champagne to be savored in a luxurious environment. Pick the drink that fits your mood of the day from a huge list of over 360 different bottles. Delicacies from the French cuisine are also being served, forming an absolutely perfect match with the select champagne on the menu. The course can be enjoyed for 6,000 yen (tax excluded).
Masterfully Prepared Sushi at a Long-Established Restaurant

Hyakumangoku is a well-established traditional sushi restaurant with a history of around 45 years. The fresh seafood that is used to prepare the delicious dishes is bought every morning at the Tsukiji Fish Market, as fresh as it can get. The “Omakase Course” is available for 8,000 yen (tax excluded) which includes a variety of different dishes selected by the chef, changing on a daily base. Some of our recommendations are the cod roe pickled in sake lees or the homemade dried mullet roe that go fantastically with sake.

The Taste of 1872: A Landlady Protecting Traditions

For seven consecutive years, this long-established sukiyaki restaurant has been awarded with a star in a famous international gourmet guide. The stock used for the dishes called warishita is a recipe that was passed down from several generations, a recipe that the landlady protects and executes with great care, offering the authentic taste of 1872. This sukiyaki experience from the Meiji period can be enjoyed for 8,000 yen (without tax, extra service charge).
