Japan is famous for its large variety of different animal cafés, with cat cafés leading the list as the most popular. Furry friends, be it cats, dogs, or even goats, aren’t the only critters that inhabit Japan’s vast world of theme cafés. And today, we want to introduce a very special one: Kotori Café. The name literally translates to “Little Bird Cafe,” so guessing which kind of animal can be encountered here is rather obvious.
Birds aren't fluffy enough? Think again!

This adorable chirper calls Little Bird Café its home. It is a budgerigar and one of twenty different staff members, as the café calls its bird population. Others are Taichi-kun the cockatoo, a cacatua alba, to be precise, Lori-kun the lorikeet, as well as Lemon-chan, another cockatiel. Apart from these big birds, the cafe is also populated by various smaller ones, like canaries and zebra finches.
Sharing Cookies with Cockatiels

The guests can interact with the birds or simply sit down, have a nice cup of coffee and relax in the calming atmosphere while listening to the cheerful chirping of our feathered friends. Every drink at Kotori Cafe costs 800 yen (tax not included) and comes with an adorable Kotori Cookie. A cake set for 1,500 yen (tax not included) is also on the café’s menu, featuring a drink of one's choice as well as a piece of cake, which can also be enjoyed on its own for the usual 800 yen (tax not included).
Visiting the Feathery Friends

The bird café isn’t only a welcome change from the usual cat café but also a wonderful, relaxing space with delicious desserts and drinks. The cheerful chirping of the many inhabitants creates an almost magical atmosphere. And with plenty of miscellaneous goods available, shopping there is also fun!
