Held every four years since 1987, Rugby World Cup 2019 is being held in Asia for the first time - taking place in Japan from September 20 until November 2, 2019.
With venues all around Japan, this tournament would be a great opportunity not only to enjoy the highest level of rugby, but also to visit many places around the country.
With that said, tickets are already very hard to come by, and the remaining ones are said to not come cheaply. For this reason the introduction of the Fanzones is a welcomed addition for all rugby aficionados. These free-access areas have large monitors where fans can watch the matches, but also a number of activities, events, food, and merchandise.
Here we introduce the fanzones for 2019!
Tokyo Fanzone 1: Tokyo Sports Square
This Fanzone is divided into 4 areas.
Public Viewing Area – Area A, and Area C
This area is a large open space set up with a 10-meter multi-vision screen and high definition sound system. The same area is equipped also with two more small monitors, allowing more people to enjoy the matches.
Another section of the public viewing area is set up with a grass-like flooring and it’s designed to be more relaxing and manageable, especially for kids and the elderly.
Social Area (Interaction area) – Area D
This area is dedicated to introducing the public to the experience of Japanese traditional and local culinary culture and products, as well as helping visitors with maps and billboards outlining major attractions and points of interest.
Rugby Experience – Area A and C
This area is laced with information about all the teams in the Cup, as well as fun photo activities and more for both young and adults alike.
Stage Event – Area A
Here, there will be concerts, local groups offering cultural and art performances, and talk shows on games varying from the funny to the informational ones.
Catering – A, B, and C
On the first floor of this area there will be a Rugby Bar, offering alcoholic drinks.
The Rugby Café on the second floor, instead, will serve a number of beverages and dishes, but not alcoholic drinks.
Official Merchandise – Area B
In this area you will find the sponsor booths and all kinds of merchandise of the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

In addition there will be two outdoors public viewing areas (A, C).
Social Area – Area D
