1. Bakery & Restaurant Sawamura Shinjuku: One of the Area's Popular Breakfast Spots!
This is a bakery and restaurant located in the NEWoMan Shinjuku food hall (second floor), an office building near the new south exit of Shinjuku Station. Using more than twenty different types of both domestic and imported wheat the bread is baked with care, garnering the Sawamura brand a solid reputation. The main shop is located in the summer resort town of Karuizawa, but the same quality bread can be enjoyed also in Tokyo.
The Sawamura bacon and eggs plate consists of thick slices of toast, eggs sunny side up, bacon, a seasonal potage, salad, and either coffee of tea. The toast is of course made from bread baked fresh that day. For an additional 200 yen you can have a croissant instead. Made with carefully selected butter, the croissants have a crisp texture and are one of the most popular products. For those who prefer something sweet, there is the French toast plate which comes with bacon, salad, and coffee or tea. The French toast has an unbelievably fluffy texture and rich egg flavor, and topped with maple syrup a joy to eat.
From lunch onwards there is a special hamburger for 1,620 yen and for dinner there is a 200 gram rump steak made from domestic beef for 4,104 yen.
The bakery is a favorite because it is open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Each variety of bread is made using a particular type of flour, Khanh Hoa Salt that is rich in minerals, sugar made 100% from sugar cane grown in the Amami Islands, plus four types of homemade yeast. There are more than 30 types of bread sold including basic croissant, baguette, and brioche as well as types using uniquely Japanese seasonal ingredients such as pickled plums and fava beans. There are also sandwiches made that day displayed in a refrigerated case. For those wanting a simple meal, there is a section in the bakery where you can eat bread and sandwiches (which also are available for takeout) and enjoy a cup of coffee with them.

2. Oyster Bar Wharf: Light & Nutrition-packed Breakfast in Shinjuku!
An oyster bar that began in Singapore is located on the second-floor food hall of the NEWoMan Shinjuku office building near the new south exit of Shinjuku Station. It offers a diverse selection of carefully selected oysters from all parts of Japan, tuna shipped directly from Wakayama Prefecture, and beverages such as sparkling wine, white wine, and Asian beers that particularly go well with oysters.
The restaurant opens at 7:00 a.m. and serves breakfast from then. One menu item is healthy morning porridge, another prepared with small scallops, and still another made with whelk and shrimp. Prices are from 928 yen.
Set menus are offered during the lunchtime. Fried oysters and oysters steamed in rice are two set menus offered using all sorts of oysters. The oysters served in the iron pot oyster set lunch are prepared in a number of ways: grilled, steamed, and fried. In addition, tuna directly shipped from Wakayama Prefecture is used in the yukke-don [Yukhoe bowl] (1,188 yen) together with avocado.
The directly imported sparkling Spanish wine Castell Roc Cavas (853 yen) goes especially well with the oysters and is highly recommended.
You definitely should check out the dinner which offers carefully selected raw oysters (all at least 12 years old). You will want to come each time the seasons change as the types of oysters obtained varies with the season. The flavor also varies according to the locale from which they come, inviting taste comparisons.

3. Dashi Chazuke En Shinjuku Odakyu Ace: Enjoy a Japanese-style breakfast in Shinjuku!
This is a place to eat which primarily serves Japanese dashi (soup) dishes and is located in the Odakyu Ace building that is directly connected to JR Shinjuku Station. The rice used in the dishes is the Hitomebore brand from Miyagi Prefecture. Many types of ingredients are used in the dashi chazuke offered: seaweed, iriko (small, dried fish), and katsuobushi (dried bonito shavings) which increase the flavor in a very Japanese way. Here you can start the day with a truly Japanese-style breakfast.
For the dashi chazuke offered only in the morning for breakfast you can select the type you like from a number of different types and it is served in a set with one small bowl of a separate item together with pickles.
We especially recommend the dashi chazuke that uses grilled salmon that is low in fat and salt served in a sesame and seaweed broth. This dish deliciously combines the sweet-tasting salmon with mitsuba (Japanese honewort) in a perfectly matched sesame and seaweed broth. Breaking the salmon up into smaller pieces before eating it is one way to eat it, though eating it as-is is also OK. This is a very satisfying dish.
Bubudashi chazuke is another popular dish and is comprised of a number of different types of vegetables diced and heaped up on a bowl of rice served with seaweed and ginger over which the broth is poured.
The red snapper dashi chazuke is offered from lunchtime onwards and is a delicious dish made with fresh red sea bream. Red sea bream sashimi is mixed with different types of nuts in a sesame sauce. It can be eaten alone or on top of rice over which hot broth is added. It is also good lightly grilled. It is a dish that can be enjoyed in many ways. There is no charge for extra helpings of broth or large portions of rice. Relax and enjoy the traditional flavor of a Japanese breakfast here.

4. Mr. Farmer Shinjuku Mylord: Offering Healthy Vegetable Dishes To Boost Your Morning!
Mosaic Street is an area near the west exit of Shinjuku Station lined with shops appealing to young people and it is here where the café Mr.FARMER, noted for its fine vegetables, is located. Mr. Akira Watanabe, also known as Hatake no Dendoshi (Evangelist of the Fields) uses an abundant source of vegetables he proudly has selected in creating healthy, attractive, and delicious meals in this restaurant. Items on the breakfast menu are offered at a special price.
More than ten types of ingredients, including Romaine lettuce, kale, avocado, tomato, olive, mimosa (boiled egg), smoked salmon, and salad chicken are used in the Farmer’S Cobb salad with organic agave dressing. Mr. Watanabe personally visits fields to carefully select domestically grown vegetables which he prepares in ways that best present their true flavors. He uses a minimum of flavoring so as not to district from their natural flavor and the portions are magnanimous as well! The limited breakfast price is 1,350 yen; from lunch onwards individual dishes are 1,674 yen and plates 2,106 yen.
There is also a vegan menu that serves dishes entirely free of animal products. The Vegan French Toast Tempe Chorizo with Kale is one such dish delivering exquisite flavor.
We recommend visiting during the café hours and trying the fondant chocolate cake (961 yen) or other vegan confections (pictured above) which are made entirely without dairy products.
There are branch shops in Omotesando and other locations, but only three, including the Shinjuku operation, are open for dinner. This is a café catering to those who prefer natural dishes not only for breakfast but at any time of the day.

7. Shifukuno Ochazuke KOMERAKU: Authentic Japanese Breakfast in Shinjuku!
As the name suggests, this is a shop specializing in ochazuke, which is a dish made by pouring freshly made dashi or brewed hot tea over cooked rice, accompanied by various toppings. Komeraku boasts a specially made bonito-flavored stock that's positively outstanding - light and easy on the stomach, yet filling enough to start your day. The bowls are also accompanied by different pickles.
Komeraku's charm not only lies in its ochazuke but in how you can prepare it to your liking. We recommend pouring as much of the tare sauce into your bowl first, then adding a splash of the dashi, then after you've finished this, add some of the other ingredients for a flavorful punch.
For others who want a larger order, be sure to try the "Ohitsu Gohan Set." If you're on the go, you may also wish to get one of Komeraku's "Omusubi" rice balls for takeout - or warm yourself up with one of their "Japanese Soup and Omusubi" sets. The menu has a variety of options styled to different ages and tastes.
