With locations abroad in Taiwan, China, Hawaii’s Oahu, and Bali, Hoshino Resorts offers unique stays at their facilities Hoshinoya and Risonare. Additionally, it’s known for developing the city-tourism hotel chain, OMO.

This chain recently celebrated the grand opening of its newest addition, OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka by Hoshino Resorts, on February 25, 2022! Tokyo’s Akasaka district is regarded as a hub for business and politics in Japan. However, it’s also an area filled with history and culture!

At OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka, there are many opportunities to immerse yourself in the surrounding attractions! Here we will introduce our experience during a visit to this new hotel.

OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka's Unique Concept: Why Don’t They Have a Restaurant?

OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka's Unique Concept: Why Don’t They Have a Restaurant?

OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka's concept is “discovering a place of quality.” Here you will find services that enable you to explore the charm of Tokyo’s “quality district” of Akasaka.

Now known as the heart of Japan’s politics and business, the Akasaka district was originally developed as the headquarters for the Edo Shogunate (1603-1868) - the military government of Japan during the Edo period. This is an area of Tokyo where hundreds of years of history and culture intersect.

While being home to the national treasure, the State Guest House, Akasaka Palace, it also offers a culture developed from long-established traditional Japanese restaurants.

To this day, you can find many restaurants and izakaya (casual Japanese bars) that allow you to enjoy drinking casually.

OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka was built with the hopes that its guests would take advantage of its location and explore the district. This is also why the facility doesn’t have a restaurant.

Furthermore, with Akasaka being an international district with many embassies and international companies, you’ll be at ease to know that there are staff who speak English, Chinese, and Korean.

At the front desk and lounge area called the OMO Base, you’ll find a Go-Kinjo Map (Neighborhood Map). This unique OMO3 Akasaka Tokyo service introduces Akasaka’s hidden gems.

The shops and sites listed have been carefully selected and experienced by the hotel staff. With all the care that went into making it, just looking at this wall-sized map will excite you to start exploring!

Next to the Go-Kinjo Map are various wooden tablets that offer information on shops and tourist attractions. The numbers on the tablets align with the numbers on the map-making it easy to figure out where you want to go!

You’ll also find that some of these wooden tablets have a special symbol. Upon visiting the sites with such symbols, you might be offered a great deal, so be sure not to miss out!

Akasaka offers long-established traditional Japanese restaurants as well as a variety of casual spots as well. With no end to the entertainment available, you’ll even find several famous souvenir shops beloved by Japan’s celebrities.

Try choosing where to shop by playing A Game of Darts: Celebrities’ Favorite Akasaka Souvenir Shops!

After your dart lands, the hotel staff known as Go-Kinjo Guide OMO Rangers will give you some fun facts about the chosen souvenir shop. Since these rangers are experts on the shop’s history, location, and products-you’re sure to get some fantastic recommendations!

You’ll even get a card which, after scanning the QR code, will surprise you with a video message! With no reservations required, this is a free activity for hotel guests that lasts about 10 minutes (available from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. only).

Another attractive service of OMO3 Tokyo Akasaka that you can’t miss is the Unbeliveable Akaksaka Walking Tour! On this tour, an OMO ranger takes you to some of Akasaka’s extraordinary sites while chatting.

Throughout the course of an hour, the tour introduces some of the attractions around the hotel. A friendly ranger will give you some background information on each spot as you stroll through the neighborhood.

One of the stops on this tour is the Soto Zen Buddhist temple - Toyokawa Inari Tokyo Betsuin. Here you’ll visit the main shrine, the inner shrine, the mystical and spiritual foxes on the mound, and the rare Seven Deities of Good Fortune.

What’s more, sold at Toyokawa Inari Tokyo Betsuin are inarizushi - tasty balls of sushi rice wrapped in deep-fried tofu. This dish is said to be the absolute favorite of Inari, the god of rice cultivation! While available to purchase as an offering, you can also get them to-go! These are a very famous product that’s been introduced on T.V., so don’t be surprised if they’re sold out.

The last stop on tour is Bar Salon Norainu. This bar is owned by a former geisha, the famous female Japanese performing artists who dance and sing at traditional Japanese restaurants.

The space functions as a tea room during the day, and the owner’s original lemonade is an absolute customer favorite. With the shop being opened to preserve geisha culture, the tour even offers live performances by geisha that you can’t enjoy anywhere else. This is a definite perk for those who choose to join!

Though Akasaka is bustling with business people during the day, it's quite empty and calm in the early mornings. With this being the case, the hotel is offering a tour led by a ranger in which you can experience what mornings in Tokyo are like!

A special treat for participants is that you get recommendations for some of the best breakfast spots in the area! Tour times run from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Although you need to make a reservation by the day before, this is a completely free experience for hotel guests!

While enjoying lunch and dinner out, we recommend relaxing at the hotel with a limited-edition menu for breakfast!

At the Ueshima Coffee Akasaka Hitotsugi Street cafe located on the hotel’s first floor, you can enjoy a scrambled egg sandwich with a side of red sea bream broth. Inspired by Japanese-style restaurant culture, this is an original dish that you're to enjoy.

At night, you can order the Aka Yona Banquet Meal from the craft beer specialty restaurant Yona Yona Beer Works Akasaka.

Offered in this meal are ten standard appetizers served at a Japanese izakaya. This includes takowasa (octopus seasoned with wasabi), iburigakko (pickled and smoked daikon radish), and much more!

Lastly, we cannot forget the guest rooms! Ranging from double rooms to twin rooms, this hotel offers various types. Moreover, everywhere from the cushions, sofa, and bathroom is stylish!

The bath, bathroom, and sink areas are all separated. This is great for comfortably getting ready in the mornings without fighting over space. There’s also alcohol spray in the rooms to keep everything disinfected (until when the alcohol spray will be installed is yet to be determined).
