Cherry blossom season is quickly approaching in Japan, and the mood is high with anticipation. This year there's a new way to enjoy the sakura - at a new pop-up bar in Tokyo's trendy Minami Aoyama neighborhood, where you can enjoy a 'soak' in 1.2 million sakura petals - or enjoy a 'splash' of delectable sake from Saga Prefecture!
The pop-up bar, which will be open for a limited time from March 22-31, 2019, features a variety of drinks and snacks from Saga Prefecture. Products themed with the new Saga brand strawberry, "Ichigosan," will also be showcased in the decorative, laid-back atmosphere.
At Sakura Chill Bar, while sipping Japanese sake from Saga you can chill out under the fluttering blossoms in the Sakura Pool, around which cherry trees are placed. Petals pile up to around knee height, making for a fun, totally Instaworthy experience!
Here unique treats will make their debut, including the sweet and succulent Ichigosan strawberries! The Ichigosan Set is a flight of 3 Saga sake varieties adorned with Ichigosan strawberries.
Or, if you're curious to sample a variety of sake, you can also try the Sakura Chill Set, which is a set of 3 sake varieties (selected from among 23).
Sakura Chill Bar is a photogenic sakura-themed sensation that's been extremely popular each year it's held. If you're keen to visit, be sure to arrive early and reserve your spot!
