Today we asked the staff at MUJI Tokyo Ariake about their top recommended baby and kids items. This shop is located in Ariake, a popular area for comfortable city living for families with kids.

Newly opened in December 2020, this store is one of the largest in the Kanto Region. It is located in Ariake Garden & Spa, a large shopping center only 4 minutes from Yurikamome Line's Ariake Station and 3 minutes from Ariake Tennis Park Station.

Thanks to its large space, the Tokyo Ariake store provides various unique services and initiatives that you won't find in other stores. Aiming to be a "department store that surpasses all department stores", MUJI offers everything you could need in your daily life.

They are also actively engaged in environmental initiatives, including collecting plastic bottles, used clothing, and food donations, in collaboration with the local community.

There is a wide selection of necessity items, a tea stand with all your favorite teas (Ariake branch only), a bakery, and a large cafe space, so you can take your time shopping while eating, drinking, or taking a rest. (*)

(*Eating and drinking not allowed in-store during the state of emergency. Takeout only.)

The sales floor and aisles are wide enough to browse comfortably, even with a stroller.

Special lockers for receiving online orders (Ariake store only) and automated cash registers (in Japanese, English, Chinese) provide fast and convenient services for the busiest people, while taking proper measures against infection.

Tons of Baby & Kids Products to Ease the Stress of Child-Rearing!

Tons of Baby & Kids Products to Ease the Stress of Child-Rearing!

Baby & kids' products are on the 3rd floor. This sales floor is designed with consideration for safety and security, including furniture with rounded corners. As a measure against coronavirus, there is even a new no-contact playground focused on "watching" and "listening."

People love MUJI's baby and kids' products for their simple designs and affordable prices. There are also many functional products that solve common problems for child-rearing dads and moms, designed according to the child's age and growth stage.

Today we asked the staff to tell us about five of these carefully selected products, packed with MUJI's commitment.

5 Recommended MUJI Baby and Kids' Products in 2021

1) Low Production Waste Equals Low Price! Indian Cotton Jersey Knit Border Short-sleeve T-shirt (Kids) (390 yen)

No matter how many times your kids soil their clothes with spilled food or playing in the mud, this item is sure to come in handy. The Border Short-sleeve T-shirt is recommended for both its price and quality. Though it was already a reasonable 490 yen, with the price revision in March earlier this year, the price has dropped even further to a super-reasonable 390 yen!

A staff member explains, "There are no neck snaps as you'd usually find on baby clothes, and the neck has increased elasticity and durability to make it easier for kids to change their clothes. The long length is designed to cover their backs, even when they move around or curl up. The size on the neck and the laundry label on the side are also printed with safe ink for children to prevent irritation."

Fastening snaps can be surprisingly troublesome. This shirt makes changing clothes much easier.

"Border-patterned clothing is usually produced so that the borders align at the neck, side, and shoulder lines. However, there's no reason for all the border patterns to be the same. So to avoid wasting cloth, the patterns may be different."

You can see this clearly when you compare them in the photo above! If you line up several of the same size shirt, you will notice that the borders are out of alignment. Each border pattern is different, making your choice one-of-a-kind!

There are three baby sizes, from 80 to 100, and five kids' sizes, from 110 to 150. They're also available in a variety of border colors, so you can coordinate cute outfits with siblings!

2) No More Mishaps! Good-Fit, Right-Angle, One-Size-Fits-All Socks (Baby & kids) (230 yen)

Your kids accidentally bring home another kid's sock from nursery school or kindergarten. If you have siblings, you lose track of who's socks are who's in the wash. And sometimes, one sock goes missing completely! These socks from MUJI can solve all those problems.

The great feature of these socks can be found on the inside of the foot. There is a size display in white on which you can write with an oil-based pen. Write your child's name and size, and easily distinguish who it belongs to. Don't worry anymore about losing them or your kids grabbing the wrong pair. It makes them easier to sort, too!

"The toes on both the baby and kids' socks are reinforced with a support function around the instep that prevents slipping, and the 'heel fit' series has a special design that divides the heel into four parts, so your child can continue to wear them even as they grow. Some of the baby socks also have non-slip soles, and some kids' socks block odors from sweat."

Designs range from short sneaker socks to long socks that cover the ankles, and sizes range from 11cm for babies to 23cm for kids. For socks that you will probably be washing frequently, 230 yen per pair is a nice price!

3) Bring Your Ideas to Life! Drawing Roll Paper (1290 yen)

Nowadays, it's difficult for kids to play outside. But you can still spend quality time playing with your kids in more creative ways. That's why we recommend the Drawing Roll Paper, which allows kids to draw freely and express their creative side.

The roll is packaged in a wrap-like case from which you pull out the paper.

"The roll paper is easy to unroll, and is boxed to be easily stored on the shelf or in the corner of the room. Use it on the floor or on the table, and draw on the front, back, or sideways. There are so many ways to use it!"

It is 43.5cm wide and 25m long. Stretch it across the room and draw together with the whole family, or cut it to the size of regular drawing paper. How you use it is really up to you! It's a new way to draw and play at home."

You can also hang your drawings from the roll as seen above. Scribbling on the walls may certainly call for a scolding, but with this paper, you can spread it all over the walls and let your kids play freely - they are sure to be overjoyed!

The roll paper does not have a core, so there's no extra waste and you can draw until the very end. When you run out of paper, just buy a refill! (990 yen)

4) Something You've Always Wanted! Erasable Crayons You Can Remove with a Wet Towel (490 yen)

Many buy the previously mentioned Drawing Roll Paper and these Erasable Crayons as a set. As the product name suggests, this super-popular 12-color crayon set can be easily removed with water or a wet towel.

Crayons contain oil and are difficult to remove from the desk or if scribbled on the walls and floors. Kids also tend to get their hands and clothes dirty.

Just wet a cloth in water, and wipe wherever there are scribbles. The markings come out right away! Now you can let your child play freely without worrying about the mess. However, please note that it can be harder to remove crayon marks from bumpy surfaces.

These high-quality, reasonably priced Japanese art products are also popular overseas and make great gifts and souvenirs for young kids!

5) Change how you Drink! Water Bottle Cup and Straw Set - Customizable by Growth Stage (1,490 yen)

The Water Bottle Cup and Straw Set is a convenient water bottle that you can continue to use for a long time, even as your child grows.

"The body of the water bottle body is the same. On the left is the cup set, and the right is the straw set. You can buy either body and purchase an additional lid separately. It's a dual-function item that you can use in either way." The staff highly recommends this item!

It's approximately 450ml in capacity, lightweight, and is easy to open and close for children. The removable shoulder belt also makes it easy to use. It has a simple design you can customize however you like - including with stickers!

Change the lid according to your child's stage of growth. Use the straw when they're small, and switch to the cup when they get older. Change it up according to setting and drink type. This super-convenient product is one that even adults can use!

Easy-to-Use for Kids and Adults for Comfortable Living!

MUJI's baby and kids items have all been developed by listening to the voices of actual customers, with consideration given to the problems and worries faced in daily child-rearing. These products will surely save troubled moms and dads all over the world!

Above all, it's important for your child to be comfortable, safe, and of course, have fun! So we hope that adults and kids alike can spend their days in good health by using these convenient, easy-to-use items.
