Already a huge trend in the United States, draft coffee is also starting to conquer Japan - particularly trendy Tokyoites are after the unique beverage. Made from iced coffee infused with nitrogen gas, draft coffee looks pretty much exactly like black beer and is well on its way to become a new favorite seasonal drink of Tokyoites!
VERVE COFFEE ROASTERS - Super Popular in the US, Now in Japan
Verve Coffee Roasters is an incredibly popular coffee brand from California, and its first café in Japan has just opened in Shinjuku's NEWoMan. Operating under the concept of "coffee is a fruit," expect their coffee to have a wonderfully fresh and fruity taste! Made from high quality coffee beans which are then roasted by hand, the delicious beverage is carefully brewed for the very best flavor experience.
Popular in Verve Coffee Makers' cafes in the U.S. is the Nitro Brew for 600 yen. This drink is made from water-infused coffee that has been extracted for a total of 24 hours, using a special server that further infuses the coffee with nitrogen as it is being drawn. This process creates fine bubbles on the coffee's surface, creating an exquisitely creamy and smooth drinking experience.
Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Closed: always open

Bmellow Brown Coffee - a New, Creamy Coffee Sensation
Operated by the coffee specialists of UCC Group, Mellow Brown Coffee has its main café in Jiyugaoka. UCC's coffee is known for providing specialties made with choice beans from all over the world, and for allowing coffee enthusiasts to fully customize which beans are used and what brewing method is used for their unique cup of coffee.
While you can enjoy this extensive world of coffee at Mellow Brown Coffee as well, we highly recommend the "Ice Brewed Coffee" for 550 yen, made with a specially developed server. It feels as soft and creamy as mousse, full of tiny bubbles that will melt right on your tongue - the best way to enjoy this coffee is definitely straight, without any sugar or milk. If you're a coffee enthusiast and open to new tastes, this is a must-try!

BrewDog Roppongi - Draft Coffee Straight from a Beer Server
BrewDog is an up-and-coming Scottish craft beer company, and its only official bar in the entirety of Asia can be found in Tokyo's Roppongi. At this very bar you can enjoy not only beer, but also a variety of draft coffee from all over the world, from Japan's leading barista expert Kiyokazu Suzuki's GLITCH COFFEE & ROASTERS to NITRO Cold Brew coming directly from the beer server for 500 yen - this coffee goodness is only served on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays!
When it comes to BrewDog's coffee specialties, not only the production area is paid great attention, but also the individual plantations from where the beans come are harvested. This "single origin" coffee is then carefully extracted and served with an infusion of nitrogen gas, making it look just like black beer. With its dense bubbles and fruity flavor, you're in for a very unique coffee experience! Meals in different sizes are also available, and the bar makes use of a prepaid system. Hence it's just the right relaxed place to stop by for a cold beer, coffee, and a snack!
