Taste the Real Car-Mouth Cake from 'Kirby and the Forgotten Land' at Tokyo's Kirby Cafe!
- Written by: Cassandra Lord
The virtual meals from “Kirby and the Forgotten Land” have come to life in Tokyo, so no longer do you need to wonder just what that Car-Mouth Cake might taste like.
We can’t be the only ones who often look at Japanese anime and game food in hunger, hoping to one day have the same taste sensations as the wide-eyed characters. So we’re sure you’re just as excited as us to hear the news!

The new menu items available at the Kirby Café in Tokyo are based on the game Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
In the game, in Waddle Dee Town, you can find Waddle Dee Café, which you will need to unlock with 60 Waddle Dees. At the café, you can buy food to recover HP, or even play mini-games where you serve the food to locals.
Although you won’t be serving locals for Star Coins in Tokyo, you can certainly taste their new menu items for yourself! So what’s on offer at the Kirby Café?
Kirby Café New Menu
First up are their two new burger options. These are modelled after the “Kirby Burger” in the game, but with a bit of an upgrade!
Instead of being a stand-alone burger, the burger comes with a meat pasta, a small assortment of vegetables, a star block omelet, and corn soup. You even get a mini Maxim tomato, just like in the Waddle Dee Café.
The real-life burger buns are significantly pinker than in-game, just adding to that adorable Kirby vibe. You can also choose from two different Kirby faces for your burger bun: the more recent familiar face with his giant anime eyes, or the retro version for a bite of nostalgia.
Unfortunately, you can’t pay in Star Coins here! So you’ll have to pay the 1,985 yen (tax included), or, if you’d like to take home a souvenir plate, spring for the version for 2,838 to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
Perhaps more exciting for some is the Car-Mouth Cake. You might recognize the shape from Kirby’s in-game “Mouthful Mode”, where you can inhale a car to zoom around on four wheels.
The glossy pink cake covered in strawberry blancmange comes with a sprinkling of matcha (powdered green tea) to look like grass, and blobs of cream to look like little puffs of smoke. Though how they get it to look like a car is as mysterious as the Forgotten Lands themselves!
Last on the menu is the Happy Birthday Kirby Cake ...But what’s this?! Looks like Kirby has snatched a bite of the cake... At least he didn’t inhale the whole thing! Inside you’ll find a nice surprise of various fruity delights.
Kirby’s 30th Anniversary
Kirby’s Dream Land first came out in Japan in 1992, so to celebrate the hungry pink character’s 30th anniversary, the Kirby Café came out with these new menu items.
In addition to the new menu items, you can celebrate the anniversary yourself with a commemorative 30th anniversary plate, or buy other anniversary goods such as their mug or stickers.
The above menu items all appeared in the café on April 27, 2022, but as they’re anniversary goods, who knows when Kirby will suck them all back up and they’ll no longer be available. So hurry on over to recover your HP quickly!
